Forums - Sony - Sony could be up there with Google and Apple if they would just follow through...

Hell u could say the EyeToy as well, it released a full 3 years before Wii and the motion control craze.

The Eye Toy is more comparable to the Kinect than the Wiimote

It´s still motion controls. And the EyeToy failed because it was a non advertized, non bundled add-on.

OT: I could be a proffessional tennis player by now, but that doesn´t mean I would succeed at it. Like Areym said, a good concept means nothing with bad execution. Look at the Vita/WiiU!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Imo the wii u is a bad concept. I only want one because of Nintendo great games. If it had ps or Xbox exclusives I would ignore it lol. Ps vita is a top notch concept though

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Hey, hey! What was my number 1 rule?

I love the idea of off-TV play and having a second screen to play

Bringing up Apple is pointless at this point. Apple is like a generation behidn all its competitors these days for pretty much all their products, yet they sell shit tons and for a higher price and break sales records like no business. Makes zero sense.

So some of your points about like the Xperia Z having such great features is moot when talking about Apple. There are a dozen phones out there that all have better features than the Iphone or have had the Iphones "NEW" features for a couple years already, but it doens't matter.

Hell look at smart watches. From what little I've looked, the iwatch doesn't seem to add anything new to the market, and is missing a few features the newer wrist things have yet I can easily see it being the market leader in its first year, just cause of its name.

Pretty much this. Most people don't seem to realize how big Sony was in the 90's.  Their stock peaked at ~$150 per share at the turn of the century.
That's monstrous considering the context of that time.

Sony has a classical jack of all trades master of none problem. The biggest issue with them is that they treat everything like a secondary product. Here are a few examples.

-first to make a commercial oled TV years before anyone else even considered bringing Oled to market. Then they just ignore the tech and now lg and Samsung are capitalizing on it as the best thing to happen to TVs.
- eyetoy, which is honestly the kinect origin story, yet they ignore the whole motion gaming tech even though they had the makings of a perfect motion gaming set up.
- xperia phones and tablets. Sony makes what is  arguably flat out the best android phones and tablets but they haven't even tried to get carrier support and don't market their devices.
- PlayStation. they are only now taking the brand as seriously as they should always have but only because it has shown that it's their strongest consumer product. and even now they are still not making the most of it.

And upcoming future missed opportunities?
- PlayStation vue. what took them so long? Sony is more entrenched in movies and tv than Microsoft, Google, apple or Nintendo. yet even now they can't get something that they are obviously poised to dominate off the ground. then they would start playing catch up to Microsoft when ms inevitably partners with sling TV.
-PlayStation now. why oh why is it still only officially on their cell phones and PS4? it should be all over the place by now. it's almost like they just don't see the potential it has.
- PlayStation share... all I will say is that if ms were the ones that were doing this and the above point, they would have marketed the hell outta it by now and made it look like they just invented oxygen.

What Sony needs to do is treat their projects like their lives depended on it. that's what everyone else does.  And their failure to do this now is why they have fallen from what'll they'll itself to be.

Ah well, as I said before, Sony is Sony's own  worst enemy. they have never been beaten. yet they somehow find a way to keep losing and dropping the ball.

Before Sony can even put a dent in Apple, they need to beat the company that took their crown of dominance in electronics from the 90's to mid 00's, which would be Samsung.

At least they've finally started amputated their gangrenous divisions.
