DOA 5: Last Round and Total War: Attila also came out. Also there is no real thirst for games, Evolve was released just last week.

Do you want to argue that shooters have the same attraction as beat'em'ups? The Order is targetting a specific genre which always sells more than others. Again, let's see next weeks numbers and legs.

And shooters may have a big appeal, but not when they don't have multiplayer and certainly a SP-only TPS doesn't have the same appeal as an FPS. Although as you said, the setting may have something to do with it. What we don't know however, is how much did The Order: 1886 sell.
