Only Nintendo has had great games this generation. Both Sony and MS haven't made any amazing exclusives. And reviewers are much more harsh this gen after being too generous last gen.

The difference is that most of nintendos offerings are 'been there done that' stuff, whereas sony invest in a far greater number of new IP's and software technology. Yes not all are super successful, but most are 'great' and many are GOTY quality.... and most importantly, theres a lot of unique content the 3rd party's rarely come up with. |
sony tries new ips because they dont know to handle their ips in the right way. they become overused realy fast and so they have to risk alot more than nintendo. and often its concept over gameplay, that is not a way to establish a long lasting series.
but i dont see em trying realy new things. i would love to see them going back to trying realy new stuff. team ico musst get fundings for a new game.

Yeah, that's why most of the upcoming Sony games are sequels. Nintendo innovates with gameplay, you don't need new ips for that. |
lol how can you even say that with a straight face.
Nintendo is always a gen behind on gameplay because they are always limited by hardware.
GT on PS1 had more gameplay elements than MK8 has on the wii U and thats how far they look like they will be in every other genre too including platforming, adventure, rpg's.
Anyway, I bet Sony will have more successful new IP's this gen than nintendo... just like they have had every gen since they entered the market.

That totally makes sense when you don't think about it!
Don't you realise that most games are just the same reskinned shooter over and over again? You think that's innovation? You don't need new IPs for that.

I don't think Sony has ever passed Nintendo in terms of quality first-party exclusives, but they truly were a force last gen. I think right now it's a combination of reviewers being more strict and Sony just not putting their all into ensuring these games are of the highest quality.

Youre statement makes a lot of sense when you completely forget that everyones grandads played the same nintendo IP's driving their consoles today, 40 years ago.

What I don't get is, if a picture is worth 1000 words...and we have YouTube...why are people still bothering with written reviews? A few minutes of gameplay (not cutscenes) with commentary is way more informative for this medium, I think. |
true true I enjoy gametrailers' reviews the most nowadays as they have pretty much what you're saying
And what happening in the MS camp? where are their exklsuives? sony just ajusts to the competition, bloodborne will soon come out and it will the first killer app regadless what the reviews say for me.

Yeah that's what I just said and everyone before. The IPs are the same, because you don't need a new IP when you do the same things anyway. Yet most shooters that get released don't offer anything new, but people get the impression that they "innovate" because of the setting or graphics or whatever. You seem to take this way too personal when there is no need for that at all.

That's like saying we don't need more sci-fi based books after Julio Verne and Isaac Asimov because they're all the same.
