Agreed.

I still see people who are seriously overexpecting on what the PS4 can do.

The PS4 is not powerful enough to have a 1080p standard. None of the consoles are. In fact, 1080p won't be the standard this generation, anyone thinking it would be was expecting too much. If you really want 1080p as standard then just build a gaming pc.

It's like people refuse to believe that even though the PS4 is the most powerful console this generation, it's still not powerful enough for what they want. It's exactly why you see a lot of resolutions such as 900p.

I also agree that a developer shouldn't go for 1080p at the cost of something else such as framerate. Can't hit 60fps while at 1080p? Then just lower the resolution a bit and make it 720p60fps or something like that. It's either that or have the game be 1080p30fps, because the consoles just aren't powerful enough to do that. (They can with quite a few games, but it's very specific-wise on what type of game it is).

are you sure Sony is pushing them...

This is for one particular engine, I should state, so the graph would be somewhat different for other games depending on engine used.

I should start a business selling asprin to gamers.

Games can't reach 60fps just because they cap the resolution down to 900p or 720p. Resolution is far less demanding then Fps. the only games where visuals are being gimped are on Games that Microsoft owns the Marketing rights for. which is fair since Microsoft pays for the game, but still. i haven't seen or heard anything related to games being downgraded to achieve 1080p. Resolution is the first thing to be capped if the game itself is demanding, If any games that have been released so far that is 1080p on the Ps4, i assure you that if they capped the resolution, we would still not see 60fps, other then maybe better texture details or other few stuff at high, but it won't be noticable and the lack of the sharp image of resolution would have made it croppy anyway due for the Upscaling

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90

If they release a god of war in 720p on ps4.. It would probably rival CGI..

I seriously doubt Sony is pushing developers to hit 1080p in all titles. Resolution and stuff like that is all down to the developers' design choices.

Ironically, the only known case recently where a platform holder pushed a 3rd-party publisher to increase the resolution, was Microsoft. Last year, Microsoft pushed Blizzard to get Diablo 3 from 900p up to 1080p on Xbox One. So they worked with each other to help reach that goal.

Yeah I remember the Watch Dogs situation where someone from Sony was a little too eager and put 1080p 60fps on their site. I'm not sure that Sony themselves are forcing devs but I'm sure that "gamers" will criticize anything that isn't 1080p.
