The people calling it underhyped (even you) in this thread were the ones hyping it up. You even say that you're "reasonably hyped".

I guess my definition of hype is different. It seems most people's definition here is closer to what I would call awareness. The level of awareness on gaming websites and through marketing was pretty big. To me hype take into account how big people think it is going to be and how good it is. When even generous predictions have it selling (before reviews) 3-4 mil, and people were hoping for 77-82 Meta and maybe if all goes well 85 I dont call that hype.

The Avengers 2 = hype

Destiny = hype

Uncharter 4 = hype

Halo 5 = hype

All 4 franchises stated have or had an expectation of massive sales and great critical review. Destiny lived up to the hype in sales IMO, just not reviews (but I loved it)

If there is a movie this summer I would liken to the Order it is the Fantastic 4 reboot. People hope it will be good, no one expect greatness(hopefully it pulls a Guardians of the Galaxy shocker on us...), no expects huge box office revenue, but many think it can do well. I would not say F4 is hyped, but consumer awareness for the movie is very high.

You mean like this?

"This game is gonna be big"

If a game has a hype thread....its hyped. This one was overhyped.

"This game is gonna be big"

So because Smalls44 says "This game is gonna be big" over a year ago the game is hyped? Come on. You could point to any game and find people who go over the top about it.

Nobody was talking about camping out for  the game.  It was just a major release with alot of controversy. Bloodborne is closer to being hyped than the Order ever was, most expect it to be really good if not great, the only thing holding it back from being hyped is the fact it is niche.

No, because the game had an actual HYPE THREAD. It literally means people were hyping it up.

So there was a hype thread. Therefor it was hyped... Seems logical. So what your saying is I can go make a Mortal Kombat hype thread, like RIGHT now and the game will then be officially hyped? Or even better Ouya, yes I shall officially deem the Ouya to be hyped. I will make a thread on it and it will be so. I never knew I had so much PWR!!!!

But seriously, your not being serious right?

You said this 30 minutes ago. That's why I showed you how big people think it is going to be and how good it is. Simple as that. Now you're trying to move the goalposts.

When i said the game will be big i wasn't talking about hype i just said that game will sell well and based on pre-order i think it's true.

My definition of hyped is a games that have a lot of discussion about it in positive way,big sale doesn't mean it was hyped and bas sale mean a games it's not hyped, Soul sacrifice and Sunset Overdrive was over-hyped we got a lot of threads about them yet they didn't sold well.

The order was just over-hyped for it's graphics but not many person said the games would be a goty or killer apps games

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Thank you

And your post is contradicting itself. You say sales aren't hype and then you say those games were overhyped because they didn't sell well.

Define big. "This is going to be big" does not meaning anything or it could mean anything. It was literally a pointless post. If there was a general consensus of people saying This game will sell 5 mil + and will be a huge critical success than I would say it was hyped. A general consensus is not some random crackpot who just spouting of things, it means MOST people feel that way or at least have similiar feelings.

Everyone agreed Destiny was going to be big. There was no doubt. Most (there we plenty of dissenters) thought the game was a lock for at least an 85 meta, Many were predicting 90+ after the beta (some lowered it as Bungie mentioned how few planets you could visit and such). I saw numerous threads on many site discuss how many GOTY awards it would win. IGN was doing a Daily destiny reveal. Every site was running features on it multiple times a week. That is HYPE. A bunch a people arguing on forum about how bad a game will suck or not suck is not hype. It just meant its February and we have cleared most of the games that released during the fall and we are bored (pretty sure I recall The Order not being talked about much until after the Holidays, it was still on peoples minds but was not a focus).

There is a reason Sony moved The Order out of the fall lineup. They knew it would get buried.

Hype is simply a good amount of people believing a game will be good. Hence the hype thread with all the posters hyping it up. Even with one poster saying he hopes the game lives up to the hype. Are you just gonna tell them that their hype thread isn't a hype thread?

The game have more pre-order then Uncharted 2 and  will probably sold 700-800k first week and between 3 and 4 millions lifetime for a new IP i think it's big
