AMIIBO IN THE FORM OF CARDS COMING THIS YEAR
Nintendo will launch select Amiibos to markets in card form this year, CEO and president Satoru Iwata revealed during the company'sfinancial results briefing today.
"In contrast to the current figure-shaped Amiibo available, we will make Amiibo in the form of cards this year as one of our future plans as Mr. Miyamoto mentioned at the Corporate Management Policy Briefing in October," Iwata said.
The last news on Amiibo cards was when Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto outlined in an interview December that discontinued Amiibo functionality may still be made available, in the form of cards.
The company revealed last year that some of the less popular Amiibo figureswon't return once stores run out of stock. This means their functionality with existing games would be unavailable to most players, but Miyamoto said at the time that Nintendo was looking into other solutions.

Iwata also stated during the company's financial results briefing today that Nintendo is considering producing more figures of popular Amiibo if there's enough demand for it.
Concerns about Amiibo rarity were first raised after the first wave when certain figures were discontinued. Some of the collectible figurines suffer from a demand that outpaces supply, creating a grey market of hard-to-find Amiibos and causing retailers to stores put a purchase limit on certain figures. I wonder if the amibbo cards will be as well receieved as the original amibbo figures, to tell the truth I prefer the figures but the only problem is the price and of course its difficult for many to invest so much money in amiibo figures, so my guess is that the cards will be the inexpensive version making possible for the average customer to buy a lot of different amiibos. What do you think?
