I love Wolfenstein.  If the order turns out as good I'll love it too.  But you can't defend all these people hating on the game when many of them bought Wolfenstein or ryse at full price.

Rol's joke thread was pertinent.

At the end of the day, dismissing a game before its out is often counterproductive. But equally counterproductive is all this silly defense of poor practices in games. Like offering limited content, having appalling endings, using QTE's where better gameplay options exist.

If you want to say 'lets just wait and see if the Order really has all these things before we attack it,' that would be fine. But so many in this thread and others are actually defending these practices (on principle) and it is incredibly apparent in most cases that its because they fear they are present in The Order, and want to defend that title specifically.

That just encourages other developers to make those poor design decisions, irrespective of whether they actually wind up being abundant in The Order.

I'm well aware rols thread is a joke and I'm not referring to that. By that logic god of war 1 and 2 are shit because I can complete them in a few hours and they have a shit load of QTEs . Same with metal Gear solid.

If the game turns out to be shit then ok. But it's get hate for these reasons before those people have played it.

So in the thread about how much you spent on Microsoft you made things up to inflate your answer. No way you Gamefly'd it and just forgot especially as that post was near to the time.  I don't know which is right but one of them is a lie.

Whatever helps you out, doesn't matter to me what you think of it. Either way, no pass was given to Wolfenstein, hope that helps.

Umm...well, I don't think a bad ending has ever been a design choice...but the other two things you mention I would think would be personal preference would they not? Somebody might think that The Order doesn't offer enough content, while others may think it does, Someone might hate QTE and someone else may either not mind them or like them.

I don't know about you but I don't consider someone giving an unpopular opinion on a game mechanic to be counterproductive.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of QTE. But I don't mind them if character needs to perform a task to complex for the regular controls, or even just to keep the player involved. But I don't feel strongly enough about them either way to let them sway me on a game.

As for content, I would rather the dev team tell the story they want to tell and spend my $60 on a short game. Than have the dev finish the story and go "uh oh, it isn't long enough...we need to make this longer". I want the developer to make the best game they can, not the best value they can an As a consumer, I determine value based on how I feel when it's over, not based how much of my time it took up.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'm so dizzy from all the spinning I think I'm gonna fall over.

So you're saying you lied in the thread about how much you spent on Wolfenstein?  Unless it was a $60 rental. The reality is ryse and the order will have about the same amounts of gameplay.  Wolfenstein I can beat in about 6 hours on easy. It had a lot of cutscenes that took a good bit of time added up.

Despite that long reply you've not proven anything except that you lied about spending $60 on Wolfenstein.  And according to the post is just linked you also spent $60 on ryse.  That's $120 for 2 linear campaign only games.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6596935

LOL I love how you are going HAM over this. Does it have to be that I fucking lied though? It couldn't just be that I remembered incorrectly? Between purchases and Gamefly I play a shit load of games. What do I stand to gain from lieing about it? That's hilarious, especially considering I openly admit to buying Ryse, which is much more like The Order than Wolfenstein would ever be. Hope that helps.

And you do know Ryse has an offline horde type mode, and online co-op? It's not "campaign only". I guess that makes you a liar, you liar.

IDGAF if Wolfenstein can be beat in 6 hours. It was Gribble's list of flaws with the game, I simply made a couple small edits. Again, in your rush to defend the game, you miss the point. The funniest part of it is games like Ryse were crucified prior to release just like The Order.

What does Ham mean?

And yes you bought both with one of them being like tthe order.  The point is you have posted that it's not value for money for you but ryse and Wolfenstein still justified $60 purchases.  If you are mad that people bashed ryse it doesn't make it right to take your anger from that out on the order.  For the record I didn't bash ryse and you won't see me either.  2 wrongs don't make a right.

Not sure if I'm mistaken but that was me.

I have tried to avoid the order threads as much as possible. Especial all those criticizing the game. I see threads like these as an exercise in futility.

I can't help but feel that any critique against a game that is unreleased is inherently stupid and I also think it's very telling that a majority of that criticism (probably over 90%) is from people that don't even own a PS4 and thus have no intention or need to even buy the game.

I find its the absolute worst kinda trolling. Since I cannot buy or play this game, I'm gonna make sure I hate it and make as many people hate it too. kinda sad when you think of it.

In all my posts on this site, I have probably never said anything bad of or even criticized a game, even those that I own because above all else I know that the value or enjoyment anyone gets from a game is purely subjective. For anyone to brand a game as bad simply cause it has or doesn't have things they hate or like respectively is to me just outright stupid.

Just my opinion.

Thank you; these are my sentiments exactly. I do not own an Android. I own an iPhone. Ergo, I don't comment on Android features that will have no impact on my life and that I know nothing about.

I have to agree with Norm here: 1) Offering "limited content" is misonomer if it's the exact amount of content needed to tell the narrative; this is an issue, however, when developers sell launch content as DLC to squeeze the consumer for cash (See Evolve, the game that largely skated for what most gamers find abominable.), 2) Whether or not an ending is "appalling" is arbitrary, a judgment made by each player, and never the objective of the developer, and 3) QTE's in lieu of "better ganeplay options" is wholly subjective and preferential: a game is designed however a game is designed, end of story. That's like saying that Mario Party should be an FPS, because it's a "better gameplay option."

Let's look at this analogously: my friend hates Requiem for a Dream, because it makes him depressed. It's a fantastic film that drives home its message about addiction with the aim of making the viewer feel the characters' sufferings. Does this mean that all movies should be cheery, to suit his preferences? No. He could also complain that it's too short or should have been shot in monochrome. He also could have made all of these comments BEFORE IT WAS EVEN RELEASED. That's what the Order is experiencing right now, and it is patently unwarranted.

Here's a quote, in summation: "People are always saying, 'Life is hard!' Life is hard!? Based on what?"

You can't tell me with a straight face these games got criticism like The Order. Uncharted, TLOU and Bloodborne get praise and some cautious criticism. Nothing out of the ordinary, as games on other platforms get too. The Order gets critcised like Watchdogs or Alien Colonial Marines. OK, maybe the latter was worse (for good reason).

Uncharted and specially TLOU are constantly called interactive movies, QTE-fests, "story with crappy gameplay", etc. Pretty much the same narrative as The Order. The main difference this time around is

a) The Order looks better than any PC game so instead of drawing only other console players it also attracted the ire of the Virgin Master Race.

b) PS4 is kicking ass and taking names, so both Nintendo and Xbox fans reinforce the narrative mentioned above because they are being sore losers. With the Wii and 360's success back when U1 was released, the same criticism was there but given the circumstances people just did it less because they were not "bothered by the PS3". By the time TLOU was released, things were already intensifying because PS3 was #1 and still gets trashed almost on a daily basis.

Moderated - Leadified

No it doesn't, lol.

I don't have any interest in The Order at all. Not that I think it's going to be a bad game or anything but because I just honestly don't have any interest in it.

But I do have to say that the way people are acting over this game is really dumb and immature from all sides.

Especially some of the excuses I see people making for why this game is getting all the hate.
I see people pulling the popularity card such as "Oh it's only getting hate because the PS4 is leading right now".

It's like people don't seem to realize that people can have legitimate complaints about a game. Especially if it is indeed true that the game is like 5 hours or something, especially when it's singleplayer only with no multiplayer, so it has nothing to rely on for more playtime other than new game + or something.

Stop acting like just because anyone has a complaint about The Order that they're jumping on a "Hate bandwagon".
