Oh shit I forgot about Ryse.  That's even more similar to the order than Wolfenstein.

So then The Order is getting the same treatment Ryse got from PS fans? It goes both ways.

I would agrue that they aren't really. Don't get me wrong, lots of PS fans gave Ryse crap (myself included) but there has been a lot of misinformation that people have just made the concious decision to run with concerning The Order. The criticism that Ryse recieved was also largely different than the criticism The Order is getting other than the QTE.

Ryse was criticized for it's clunky animation and mediocre gameplay on top of the issues people had with it having QTE.

Initial impressions of The Order have been pretty possitive as far as gameplay is concerned and the animation is top notch.

The Hypocricy comes from him berating The Order even though several of his issues also apply to Ryse.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

No, I said not many considered it goty. My point still stands.

You said almost no one. It was a contender at the Game awards, IGN, Polygon, and Kotaku named it as one of the 12 best games of 2014. As well as a handful of other wins and nominations from smaller publications.

You were incorrect.

It's 79% on metacritic which is pretty bad considering the inflation of scores.

Not incorrect when there are games that scored much higher. Besides, you haven't played the Order, so you don't know how similar it is to Wolfenstein. 3 sites out of tens of thousands named it goty, so what?

Funny how many of those same points didn't stop you shelling out $60 to buy Wolfenstein and describe it as amazing.   That game has lots of cutscenes and can be beaten in no time.

Not even sure where to begin on how wrong you are.

1. Not all of those games on that list are games I bought. I Gamefly'd Wolfenstein. As well as Madden 25, since I already owned the PS3 version.  I can provide a snapshot of my GF rental history if you'd like. Why did I not buy Wolfenstein? Because I was not sure it would be worth $60. I ended up getting a ton of play time out of it and all 1000 achievement points. It was an awesome game.

2. Do not bother trying to compare the cut scenes and play time of Wolfenstein to that of The Order. Maybe you haven't watched any of The Order playthroughs on YouTube? I watched most of it while cleaning yesterday. It's like people trying to compare it to the QTE's in Ryse. They clearly do not know what they are talking about, and are in for a surprise when/if they ever play both games.

3. You seem to be under the impression I believe no one can buy The Order for $60 and not get their monies worth? I haven't said that. Bioshock is one of my all time favorite games, #2 on the recent "best 100 ever" list or whatever here, IIRC. And MGS was #1. Both of those games you can breeze through and finish in no time flat. However, both of those games has elements that allow for much longer play throughs, as well as replaying it entirely. From what I have seen, The Order has none of that. But that's not even the point. All I was addressing is what the thread is about, the "uncanny haterade". Gribble posted that list as if any game in the future that is guilty of any single one of those negative elements deserves the hate The Order has gotten. I am just saying it's guilty of all of them, at the same time, plus more he didn't even list. Throwing out a linear game I enjoyed like Wolfenstein won't change that. Mostly because I didn't buy Wolfenstein, but also because Wolfenstein does not also share all of those faults.

Hope that helps.

So you're saying you lied in the thread about how much you spent on Wolfenstein?  Unless it was a $60 rental. The reality is ryse and the order will have about the same amounts of gameplay.  Wolfenstein I can beat in about 6 hours on easy. It had a lot of cutscenes that took a good bit of time added up.

Despite that long reply you've not proven anything except that you lied about spending $60 on Wolfenstein.  And according to the post is just linked you also spent $60 on ryse.  That's $120 for 2 linear campaign only games.

People have always hated linear shooters with a lot of cutscenes and qte. At the same time there's also many people that love those games.

But a 7 hour singleplayer only game with 3 hours worth of cutscenes and qte? No surprise this game gets hate and it has nothing to do with being a sony exclusive.

I am a PS fanboy and i actually agree with this completly. The negativity isn't undeserved.

lol, it's like some of you do not even read the posts you quote and respond to.

Like I said before, if you think the "QTE's" in Ryse are anything like The Order, you'll be in for a bad surprise when you play the game. And Ryse had decent replay value with the offline arena mode and online co-op. Ryse actually is a game I bought, and it's one I should not have bought at $60. But it was 3 months after launch and pickings were slim with my new console.

You're missing the point though. All I did was quote Gribble's list of flaws and point out it's getting hate for all of them. Reminding me I enjoyed a game that has some of those same flaws but not all, doesn't make me a hypocrite. Hell, even if Ryse literally had every single flaw I have with The Order, it still would not be hypocrisy, because I bought Ryse literally like a year ago. Maybe it's the type of purchase that steers me away from ones like The Order?

Now you've cornered him. This is absolutely deserving of a

Coming from the greatest vgchartz user 2014 I am honored!  He should have quit while he was ahead.  Sadly I don't have a spare 5 mins to look up past comments from everyone so these busted awards will be rare.

1. You said, and I quote "almost no one considered Wolefstien game of the year contender". Which is incorrect.

2. I brought up Wolfenstein to bring up a point. There are those that are complaining that The Order is short and that a large chunk of the game was cutscenes. This is based on a LP were the game was beaten in 5.5 hours. So, I mentioned that the most popular LP for Wolfenstein is only 7.25 hours long and cutscenes make up nearly 40% of that time.

The issue there is that the average play time for Wolfenstein is like 13 hours, just like so far the average play time for the Order has been between 8 and 12 hours.

Though, as Kerotan said. They are both single player only, linear shooters.

Men. The Bouncer for PS2 was so short that I beat it while I was standing in line to pay for it. Still enjoyed it. Order up!

I'd like to forward point number 2 to LudicrousSpeed.  Basically what I said. I Could beat Wolfenstein in under 7 hours and as you say 40% are cutscenes.  There is really no beating around the bush. The order is being unfairly criticised before its even released for reasons that many of these same people didn't hold against other games.  Why are they doing it? That's another question altogether.
