I would say Mario kart DS is the definitive Mario Kart experience for providing the best overall package that Mario kart has to offer.
Battle mode, Mission mode, Time Trials, First Online, Best Multiplayer (8 download play!), Great courses, Best Characters with no Extraneous or annoying ones = DS is the best mario Kart in my opinion
