In previous Gens I never bought games under 80 meta because I thought they were not worth my time. dying Ligh, AC Unity, and Desting all scored between 71-76 and have be 3 of the best I have played.

Yeah, Desting is such a great game!

But no one should use meta scores to buy games or not, I hope more and more people learn it this gen.

If you are laughing at my spelling I usually post on my IPAD and this site is glitchy as hell on iOS.

If you are laughing at the thought that Destiny is a great game I disagree. Its not perfect but it is fun as hell. I got a good 2 months out of it. Gameplay is just so fun and immersive. And for a timesink type of game it is VERY action focused(ie you wont spend 100 hours fishing to level up some stupid crafting tree)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Well the 7th gen had tons of great games.

Yeah, I'm going to disagree on that. I have to laugh at all those games that scored 90%.

Seriously...

Even though initially I felt a lot of those games were good, now they've either aged horribly or the novelty/value of the game wore off.

In several cases the sequels made their predecessors useless, because there wasn't really anything inherently special beyond production values added for the previous title.  Or rather the game mechanics might have been improved to such a large extent in the sequel that we find there wasn't really anything special to their predecessors.

Lube Me Up

While I do think Evolve has been overrated like crazy, I think that reviews are improving...I think the problem is with the readers who see a seven and call a game crap.

only this gen? its been like that for ages. some games polarise the community it is just the way it has been.

i stopped reading reviews and watching gameplay videos. If i see to enjoy that I go buy it.

well they act different than some years ago, that why MM has just a metascore of 90...
and i can explain why they rate evolve well, the game is FUN, the MP is just to small to hold you long.

Maybe game reviewers these days are encouraged to be very me-centric. Written reviews are worthless in the face of video LP footage IMO, so I don't understand why people still care.

There are a lot of reviewers out there. What I do is find the ones that I generally agree with, and then go to those reviewers from then on. You really have to think of what games you have liked/disliked and then go to metacritic and find reviewers that felt the way you did.

Yep, reviewers have this strange tendancy to score Nintendo exclusives high et Playstation exclusives low. I find rather puzzling that they always have the same opinion in those cases.

So I recently played Dying Light at a friend's house, and it was an amazing experience. Almost everyone on the internet likes or loves Dying Light, and almost everyone who has played Evolve has said it's alright or it's meh. Here's the thing, Dying Light scored a 73 on metacritic, but Evolve is somewhere above 80 on metacritic. Dying Light has an 8.0 user score, but Evolve has somewhere below a 5.0 user score. Also a lot of PS4 exclusives have gotten horrible reviews but a lot of people like them. I know just because I feel a game should get good reviews doesn't mean it should, but when almost everyone enjoys a game, it makes me feel some of these reviews are bullshit.

Dying Light is a meh game to me and to everyone I know who has played it.

Well, all I can say is from my experience, the opinions expressed on the Internet, whether it be from a reviewer or forum goers, is not necessarily the consensus reality. Users on forums generally are more excited and tend to forgive games shortcomings more readily, while some reviewers can be more critical of a game than it deserves.

In the end, the only thing that matters is your opinion and nobody else's.
