Halo was a September release for 3 and Reach, so it's not unfamilar territory for the Halo series ... 4 came out a week before Black Ops 2. Once BO2 came out there was a steep decline in players playing Halo 4 online. Massive momentum killer there. Having that extra month and a half will probably build a more populated online community, but only if they can release a good product.

PS4 outsold the XB1 in January despite being $50 more. Interesting.

I wouldn't call it spin. Every company celebrates records against itself.  Quarterly earnings are often celebrated as records when the company surpasses itself etc. etc.  It wasn't spin as people not knowing how to read -- some guy essentially said "we sold more than last year at this time".

yep, these should be a great counter strategy to battle xbox one upcoming releases for the holidays.  I hope Sony do it.

This must be worrying for Microsoft. Sony deliberately prioritised profitability over price matching last year. I understand it costs more to manufacture each XB1 than it does the PS4 due to the architechtures. Come next year, Sony will have cut manufacturing costs considerably and have much greater scope for a price drop by then and if MS need to be cheaper to sell better, that means they'll need to take bigger hits.

At least if xbox one ever surpass ps4 in US, it won't definitely be because "360 won last gen or America prefer xbox brand over ps brand", it will be because it was always at a better value/cheaper than ps4 and I'm sure that was the reason ps3 never had any chance of regaining the lead in US, it has nothing to do with brand.
