Forums - Politics - Three Muslim students killed at North Carolina campus

It is on Foxnews: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/02/11/north-carolina-man-charged-in-shooting-death-three-people/

They're saying its over a Parking dispute. 3 people shot in the head, over a parking dispute.

Oh god. I love how they immediately said not bias, even though this was their first report on the story and it's not something they updated into an already posted story. People knew how the story would play out if the roles were reversed, so Fox preemptively made that statement in their initial post.

And he killed 3 people with headshots and immediately turned himself in....over a "parking dispute"? Guarantee it'll be "he was mentally ill", just like Aurora, Sandy Hook, Elliot Rodger (who explicitly said he was going to shoot girls because he was rejected by them) or even what they tried at my school, Purdue, with Cody Cousins. Somehow, all of them were mentally ill. Whole groups of people won't get looked on in a negative light based on this one man's actions, but instead, they'll try to find out a "deeper problem" with the individual. A benefit no other group gets. Trayvon Martin was a "thug" because he got suspended from school once and smoked a little weed. Mike Brown was "low life scum" because he stole some cigarillos. But this [white] guy? With the way this played out (3 headshots over something petty), they won't ever look at him like the sociopath he is. They'll find out he was "troubled" and was an otherwise "upstanding citizen" and some "bad situation" caused him to snap. I've seen it time and time again.

I don't think that's true, either. There's always an interest in picking apart criminals who seem more cerebral, whether it's because they are strongly ideological or they pull off an attack that is spectacular in nature or scope. Pick just about any Muslim terrorist in recent years, and you can find heaps of stories about how he was a promising or likeable student, so polite, just a normal kid, etc., until he became radicalized after his professional aspirations didn't pan out or something like that.

As for bias, it's kind of suspect that an outspoken atheist would just happen to kill two visibly religious people after such a petty dispute. But hate crimes are pretty close to thought crimes, so it's understandable if the cops don't want to pursue that angle unless they have clear evidence.

"You peope" can minimize the lack of reporting all you want but if a Muslim person would've killed 3 non-Muslim young people it definitely would've made national news. We all know the media has an agenda. It's the same way they report white kids gunning down blacks but no reports when whites are gunned down by cops. It's the same way they'll show blacks rioting in the streets but don't show whites doing it. They know what sells. They know what will get people riled up and angry. Not talking about 3 innocent, young, murdered Muslims won't get the bubbas in a tizzy like if 1 Muslim were to kill 3 young whites in the name of Allah.

Nearly every instance of a crime will be national news one way but be an obscure link in the bottom-right corner of a web page in another. Natalie Holloway was a pretty, smart blonde who went missing and was murdered in Aruba and to this day it's still news. Stepha Henry was a pretty, smart black girl who went missing in Miami and was found murdered. CNN bumped the interview about Stepha Henry with the Miami police chief because they needed the space to report that Paris Hilton was to begin her 3 day stint in jail. Young men of all ages and races go missing everyday. No mention of them anywhere outside of the Walmart bulletin board. But Madeline McCann, a European toddler, goes missing in Europe and our U.S. news stations carry it like nothing else matters. So yeah, this story would've been minimized no matter what. Keep telling yourself that.

Just curious, give me an incident where white people were rioting in the US and it wasn't reported?  Also, as the post above yours said...this is on all the major news sites.  It's the top story on CNN  lol

It's the top story now, because it blew up on social media with people saying "hey, why isn't this being reported on?". The event happened yesterday, and it wasn't "breaking news" or anything (except for local news). Whereas things like....Anders Brehvik, Ferguson, Malaysia airlines missing, etc. were instantaneous headlines.

And about the rioting, if I pull up a news article of white people rioting, that'd kinda disqualify it from it not being reported on (but that would just prove his point if I couldn't find any articles. Because that would mean that the media doesn't show it when white people do it). What Fenton was saying was that it doesn't get "blown up" and become a part of the national discussion like when black people do it.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/11/white-people-rioting-for-no-reason.html

In none of those instances were they called "thugs" or "savages" or were they condemned for "making white people look bad". In the local news where these things happened, they're called "revelers" and that they "had a little too much fun". And it stopped being news after about 12 hours

Is it weird that those things were instant headlines? I don't mean to "downplay" the murder of three students, but when

*A guy flips batshit crazy and kills 91 people, and blows up a car bomb right outside the norwegian government and goes to a political camp and shoots dozens of kids down to the age of 14

*A series of riots happen in Ferguson, which eventually escalated to shop looting and stuff, there were also gunshots fired. Add to that the fact that these riots occured because of racial discrimination (Michael Brown got shot).

*A plane with 227 passengers dissapears in the middle of nowhere with no trace

It's not weird that those are instantaneous headlines, whereas the murder of three students, however unfortunate and sad, is not "that big a deal" compared to those.

This thread is ridiculous...

1. It's being reported by every major news outlet
2. The shooter says it wasn't motivated by their religion

Jesus, there was just a murder-suicide at the same school a few days ago. My brother in law goes there.

Its a money thing, this won't attract viewers but some pretty white girl abducted or killed will. News are entertainment nowdays.

A shooting at a school, that left 3 dead, is not news worthy?

How many shootings made headlines accross the board yet this gets nothing.

We know why this isn't on the news. It's because it counterbalances the effect of Charlie Hebdo, which governments are using as a pretext to increase censorship and security.

It's real guys.

For fuck's sake. It's all over the news.

It was reported..

Haha, really?

I just checked CNN and it was this 1-minute thing.

You can't blame me for not watching news anymore ;)
