Wait... What?

Did Sega say they're leaving Sonic behind?

Link?

No. They laid off a bunch of workers from Sega of America and are shifting toward PC/mobile, and a lot of people seem to be (mis)interpreting this as Sega itself being in dire financial straits and/or abandoning consoles and Sonic (which Nintendo should apparently buy, because they don't have enough of their own IPs that haven't been relevant since the '90s).

Sonic is still very successful. Even if sega dies, sonic will live on, its easy cash. The last major multiplatform game sold almost 4m.

I was already thinking Sega went bakrupt abruptly by no reason at all today or that maybe they announced something Sonic-related. Now I see it's just the OP spreading doom around here with zero base at all.

Isn't it against the forum rules to create a thread with absolutely zero content that basically tries to say a completely unbased affirmation with zero reasonign at all?

I'm not worried. The Sonic Boom series was actually fairly well received. Its too bad that Big Red Button couldn't figure out what to do with the game. I wouldn't even be surprised if they somehow find a way to make a sequel but with a more reliable team.

I don't think Sonic is going anywhere, but I certainly wish he was.

Why?

Yes. I still think Sonic Generations was the game I had been waiting for so I still want a PS4 Sonic that builds on that formula.

I liked Lost World (Perhaps more than any sonic game) and thought they had the potential to do something noteworthy with sonic. A mobile only direction means this almost certainly won't happen.

It's a big loss for us because, other then Nintendo, very few big companies really do much within the platform genre, let alone the 3d platform game genre, and the speed aspect of sonic always made his games stand out whatever form his games took.

Actually, yes. When Sonic's good, he's damn good, when his games suck, they're utter shit. IF Sega ever was able to release a game that matches Sonic Adventure (2), I'd welcome back the blue blur with open arms any day.

I will miss the old Sonic but not the new Sanic. RIP but it needed to die sooner
