Hopefully not... I'd much rather these games just get quick ports like Galaxy 2 on Wii U. No need to waste resources on a project like this

It looked better on the DS than on the n64 though... isn't the DS more powerful than the 64?

DS vs N64 is similar to 3DS vs GC/Wii; in some ways the console is more powerful, in other ways, the portable is more powerful.

And mario 64 was their very first large scale 3d game. even if the ds was somewhat weaker than N64, their experience would allow enhanced graphics for the port/remake.
