I don't have unlimited dollars (yet) so sometimes, I have to play games later than I want to. In this case, some of these games are REALLY late lol. But I think it's time to play a Wii-U game. I've been playing PS4 alot over the last few months, and it's time for a lighthearted break. 

So which game do you guys recommend?

You can't really go wrong with those games, but for me 3D World is the best. Game is just pure fun, and there is a good amount of content as well

Multiplayer Smash, single player SM3D World. Depends on what you'll be spending more time doing. Both are awesome.

TROPICAL FREEZE.

Cannot emphasise that enough. The other three are also enjoyable (actually I'm playing Captain Toad at the moment and it's freakin' adorable) but Tropical Freeze is really special. It's also got one of my all-time favourite game soundtracks (David Wise really outdid himself with that one).

That being said, I own all four of those games and they're good for different reasons. Smash is good if you really like competitive multiplayer. SM3DW is good for co-op. DKC:TF also has co-op but is more challenging and probably slightly better as a single-player game. Captain Toad is pure single-player and great fun if you like puzzle-based games.

3D World is the best Mario since World on SNES! But Smash Bros is still more bang for your buck in multiplayer...

Smash 4 out of all of those choices. Unfortunately getting a GCN controller adapter will be rough, but the pro controller is alright. If you're looking to buy a new Wii U, you can get a bundle with 3D world. If you have a Wiimote and nunchuck, I highly reccomend Metroid Prime Trilogy. I picked it up for $10 on sale, but its $20 now. Still thats three amazing games for $20 bucks. If you're looking for something more light hearted, Wonderful 101 is 30 bucks I believe and theres always Lego City Undercover. Thats a great game and makes good use of the gamepad. Lastly, I would say at some point Wind Waker is a must buy. I can't find a physical copy around me, but I bought digital. WW is great and looks amazing in HD. One negative I will say tho is that ocasionally when there are a lot of things you're hitting at once the game will lag. Dunno if thats a hold over from GCN coding or if its the Wii U's fault, but in my 30ish hour playthrough, I'd say it only happened to me like 4 times.

If you enjoy the Smash series or fighting games then SmashFOR is the way to go. Lots of replay value, but best played with friends.

If you want something Mario-like then get 3D World. A good Mario game but not his best outing.

If you want something cheap and action packed get Wonderful 101. Really enjoyed that game.
