Forums - Gaming - Seems like the all time classic Asteroids is getting the Bomberman Act: Zero treatment

Atari announced Asteroids: Outpost today, calling the new take on the 35-year-oldAsteroids a "bold re-imagining" of the brand. That's a pretty accurate statement, sinceAsteroids: Outpost is not an arcade space shooter, but an open-world, sandbox-style survival game.

Asteroids: Outpost is developed by Salty Games for Windows PC. It will come to Early Access on Steam "soon," Atari says.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Super Sprint FPS next please.

Sounds like a decent game, don't get why it has to be a re-imagining of an old game that has nothing to do with this rather than a new IP tho.

Someone trying to increase the value of their mediocre game with a popular license? Nothing to see here.

Came here to say something along these lines.  I figure that people are going to be 'pissed' that classic asteroids is getting re-imagined......but if you just think of it as a new IP (and people are ALWAYS looking for new IPs instead of sequels) with the asteroid name, it could be something to get excited about.
