Forums - Nintendo - If XCX is complete enough that someone can play 300 hours of it, what's the wait?

Even if the debugging is all done they can't just release it there and then. These things take time, they have to prepare all the discs, package them and ship them. Besides they would have already agreed the date with retailers who wouldn't be particularly happy if they then just sent them the game 2 months early.

There's no way all that takes four months to do, but the bolded actually makes sense.

Play test time that the developer put on the game. Game is not finished.

That was the final run through, and the preloads have already been sent out, so yeah, it most likely is.

Nintendo doesn't equal Ubisoft. That's all there is to this topic.

Probably securing space for retailers and starting shipping production as well as many other things

For four months? It doesn't take that long.

It could and of course, there's testing and etc

Testing is already done, since Takahashi already played through it one final time. That 300 number came from what he called his last run through. That makes no sense if there was still testing to do.

Well, what if theres multiple testers? As well as they still may have to do online network testing as well. And at its best, they are just waiting for a great time to release it

I never said there weren't multiple testers, but they were most likely done if the director of the game was giving it one final play through. Same with network testing. That's not something you handle after the director plays through the game one last time.

Pre-loaded doesn't mean testing has stopped, most games are fully playable before they go gold.

Well the director never said he played with someone else or he played online. He just said he played 300 hours one last time and if he played alone, that means that he clearly didnt do the online portion. And its not that out of the norm to do more testing even after the director has played it cause its not his job to specifically find bugs, thats the bug testers job

Maybe the game is still in development? He played 300 hours of a not finished version of the game. They could be adding sidequests, weapon, materials and that kind of stuff.

I doubt they're adding content at the 11th hour: that's just begging for trouble.
