How I'd spin it:

microsoft - "our 3rd party sales are greater than first party from nintendo and sony combined. We are here to support you...Mr. Hideo Kojima"
Sony - "We have MGS4 coming soon..."
Nintendo - to 3rd party publishers - "If you make it, it will sell."

Here is a new way to look at things, the attach rate for the month.

Wii
Total 0.084
First 0.045
3rd 0.039

Xbox
Total 0.079
First 0.014
Third 0.065

PS3
Total 0.075
First 0.011
3rd 0.063

Its fairly even with ~8 percent of owners of each system buying a game this month. Wii has almost 1% more owners buying a game this month than PS3, however, that can be attributed to the pack-in Wii Sports. Their

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Isn't this expected given the current install bases?

I don't see why Wii Sports shouldn't be counted. It is the biggest system seller on the Wii practically, and a lot of people buy the Wii because THEY WANT Wii Sports.

i didnt expect wii to be that close to 360 with software sales

 For most of us, yes.

But there are a lot of people who cling to the fantasy that the demographics of the install base are more important than the size of the install base (Wii casuals don't buy games, the 15-25 male hardcore market is the heart of gaming, etc.). The numbers consistantly refute this point.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

360 is already pwnd, other than in 3rd party sales...and how is Brawl going to help with that?

Maybe because the WII has an install base OVER DOUBLE that of PS3..but fanboys are ofcourse selective these days
