Forums - Nintendo - Fatal Frame V [not] confirmed for the rest of the world, but Itagaki believes it will come

Read my fellow Vgcharterz:

Tomonobu Itagaki didn’t have anything to do with Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden. However, he seems to think that the Wii U game will be released “in many countries.”

Itagaki wrote on Facebook recently:

Mods please move this to Nintendo Discussion.

Good news for a lot of Fatal Frame fans! And what can be read in between that statement? X-D

Oh woops, that dev didn't have anything to do with the game. Should have read that part.

So in other words, it hasn't been confirmed.

No :D

Wasn't there to be a Fatal Frame movie for the west to be made yet? Makes sense to release it then.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

As someone else who has nothing to do with Fatal Frame, I can also confirm that it is or is not coming. Maybe. Read into that what you will.

I'm not confident anymore.

If after 5 months Nintendo and Tecmo didn't announce anything, it's probably because they don't intend to localize the game.

I'm neither here nor there on this (though these two devs seem to be friends so who knows), but I for one have always felt there was a strong possibility of the game coming to the West. Nintendo is currently taking a more balanced approach to their lineups in terms of genres, target demographics, etc and Fatal Frame fits that approach. Nintendo is also having to do the heavy lifting for the Wii U so the more exclusives the better. Given these circumstances, I could see Nintendo encouraging or helping pay for localization of the game.

I think that since Tecmo did a great job with Hyrule Warriors that Nintendo will help localize this game.
