Forums - Nintendo - Fatal Frame V [not] confirmed for the rest of the world, but Itagaki believes it will come

It's only sold 60k in Japan, no way that's enough to recoup the production costs of a HD game.

Wanting to break even or a least minimise losses should be motive enough to release it worldwide.

Then again, if they don't, it will be hacked like Fatal Frame 4, so it's really just a matter of how long we'll have to wait. Either way, we're getting it.

I feel like you're underestimating the capabilities of Japanese devs like this.  Plenty of the otaku-teams who work PlayStation only could profit with a HD game on those kinds of sales.

Then again, plenty of them get more money out of it from recycling a lot of assets across multiple titles, and I don't think that's the case here.

Also, this game seems to have had a bit more polish than some of those I'm talking about.

Still, Deception IV sold similarly across PS3 & Vita, and I don't doubt that would've been profitable on Japanese sales alone.

It will be released at a time when the WiiU has a big drought and Nintendo has nothing important to release, so I assume it would be a year after the release of Zelda U. That way, it will profit from a (slightly) bigger userbase and more attention to the game.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I'm not confident anymore.

If after 5 months Nintendo and Tecmo didn't announce anything, it's probably because they don't intend to localize the game.

They wait for NoE to take the bullet and pay for localization, then for NoA to decline to publish it in America, then wait another two years for Project Snowfall to finally get the Gamespot-exclusive release of the game.

It's not what I expect, but if it's the only way to get the game translated. I'm fine.
