The Evil Within never loses it's focus on gunplay. You said Mario has its is a unique world, but it's inconsistent; never ever is explained why Mushroom Kingdom varies so much from world to world, nor why Mario cares - because it serves to mix up the gameplay while always being a platformer.

The world in The Evil Within isn't random for the sake of being random, but they do subordinate it for the gameplay, instead of plot; just like Mario does. The whole Evil Within world is connected to this man:

 

You're asking what's the point of the whole game, which makes me think...did you beat it?

That`s good for Evil Within. I haven`t played it and am on the fence about it. It sounded promising, but seemed to focus more on action than the horror element. It felt like RE4 again in a sort of way. I was hoping for more of Silent Hill. If the game is good, it`d be cool if it passed RE6. Not to bash it, but I don`t think RE6 was a good RE game...

I just started it recently (in chapter 3 now) and so far I'm really enjoying it. Looking forward to playing some more, we'll see how it goes.

That said, I don't think RE6 is THAT bad. Well, I paid 5 pounds for it and have only played Leon's campaign in coop, but still. It's not awful. Then again, I don't have the attachment to the franchise, just played 4, 5 and 6.

pro tip: use flash bow then go to the zombies and duck then press X. That gives them instant kill, works also by throwing bottles at their head saves a lot of ammo

Dunno what the flash bow is (I play every few weeks with my friend and I think we're in the middle of the campaign). But ok, I'll look into it and give it a try, thanks!

Great. It's an amazing game. I'm about 4 hours in and it's awesome so far. Lots of scary creepy moments.

Reminds me a lot of resident evil 1 actually.
