Video killed the radioshack ;)

Good riddance. I am younger than some here and so I didn't really live in a time when Radioshack was considered cool except for when maybe I was 6 or 7... even then it had probably already peaked. Going into them (as an older kid) I never really saw anything that interested me except maybe a few over priced toys XD went into a Radioshack last year, holy crap that place was a ghost town -in the middle of a mall. All other electronics places were full, every store seemed full, especially compared to Radioshack. Not surprising since everything they were selling sucked o~o and maybe it's just me but the name itself sounds completely dated "Radioshack". Just has an old connotation in my eyes

Can someone explain to me who they are, what they do and how they were some favourite memory from the past?, I never knew these guys existed until today.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

They use to be the best place for ANY hobbyist. Great place for families as well, but only in the days of cassete tapes and make our own electronics. I still have a monster truck from RadioShack (got in the US) and it was a load of fun playing with that thing. It's the only thing I have as a reminder of RadioShack left.

There was a poster that put the history of radioshack, not that hard to see on this small thread.

More like RadioSuck.. Going there makes me feel lame. I did meet a cute girl that used to work there who liked me. She ended up being a good friend, who one of my friends ended up dating and having babies with. My friends are dicks!

Well, once this outfit is shut down, where the fuck am I going to get resistors, fuses and all those stupid batteries they keep trying to sell me?

They sell misc. electronic components for the do it yourself fixers and inventors who like to tinker. They eventually evolved into selling gadgets and cellphones and Best Buy kind of shit. People don't really tinker anymore, because the evolution of man has made us fat and stupid and just want everything handed to us on a platter.

I used to love making my own cirucits with bulbs and batteries, but we have videogames now and are spoiled with so much entertainment, we don't need imaginations anymore.
