Forums - Gaming - The Order: 1886 Is 10 Hours Long On Average/Shorter If You Miss A Lot Of Stuff..

And why you decide the duration of the game? Can you beat it for the first time in 6 hours? Yes, we have seen it (and it was not very good btw imo) so why you decide that it isn´t the duration? Is the king dressed? Because i´m seen it  nude.

I've never ever seen such a ridiculous level of scritiny as this game is getting. This whole conversation is complete and utter nonsense. Most people who have enjoyed the game have complete it in 10+ hours. If you want to believe idiots who for one reason or another are trying their hardest to beat it as quickly as possible, then go ahead. I can post information about many games that have been finished in a fraction of their supposed average play times.

This is NOT the lowest possible time these games can be completed in, it's the average, so clearly these games can be completed in much less time:

Did we have this debate when these games came out? How about the hundreds of other games on that site that have a similar playing time? NOPE. People are crapping all over this game because it's an exclusive and they're doing their best to try and stop it selling well.

No it isn't. You don't judge a game on someone rushing though it, you judge a game on the average time it take to complete it. This is a 10+ hour game. Youtubers never play games like this properly because they fear their viewers won't subscribe or like the next video.

And why you decide the duration of the game? Can you beat it for the first time in 6 hours? Yes, we have seen it (and btw it was not very good to say the least imo) so why you decide that it isn´t the duration? Is the king dressed? Because i´m seen it  nude.

He has as much right to decide as you, or Rol...in fact, he has more, since it's his thread.

On top of Rapier's impressions Gribble put up, here are two more that I found.

Regardless, with what you see on youtube about The Order, MGS4 is shorter, gameplay wise. You cannot deny the fact you can finish the game in around 4.5 hours because the game has incentives for you to speedrun it. Still it is a fun game and it received 94 on meta even for having a short gameplay.

So, what is the problem with The Order? I see no issues here.

Okay, I understand your point. I think it is a rather disingenuous way to talk about this, because even without the seven hours of cutscenes, an average play of MGS4 took around 10 hours, but I see your point. As I have not played MGS4, I cannot discuss The Order in the context of MGS4. However, in the context of The Order, The Order is too short and fluffy to validate its price tag. In addition to all of its other flaws (frequent cinematic cuts, shooting gallery style shooting segments, lack of gameplay choice, lack of any narrative choice, general structure of the game being built around movie style writing instead of utilizing the strengths of the medium etc), which I have discussed at length at other times, my conclusion that The Order is not worth the money stands.

PS: To those dragging in other games when speaking of game length, bear in mind that this discussion isn't taking place in a vacuum. When looking at game length, we are often looking at what you do in game, the quality of the systems, the amount of actual gameplay and more to decide whether the game's length justifies its cost. I cannot speak for everyone else or all of the other games that are being dragged into this discussion, but throwing them up as a shield in no way strengthens your argument. If The Order doesn't stand on its own two feet, it deserves to be criticized. Feel free to debate that ad nauseam, but please stop trying to throw up shields to validate anything. Tell us what you think The Order does that validates its price, because I have really yet to see much of anything but some pretty cutscenes....

Well, I just watched the half of PlayMeThrough's walkthrough (parts 1 - 9).... I wont spoil anything for people, but I will say, unless people intend to pick and inspect every single inanimate object ROD put into the game.... there is no way it will take longer than 6-7 hours for the average gamer to complete.

Its pretty much half the length of Beyond TS.

The creation of a thread doesn't give anyone the right to spread wrong or misleading information. It's a disservice to the community.

Yeah, I saw that thread title about US News not covering the murders of 3 Muslims, change pretty quickly after it was proven articles were up on said news sites, before the thread was even posted here, oh wait...no it hasn't.  Beyond that, your opinion, is just that.  Just because you believe it, doesn't make it fact.  Fact is, most games can be rushed through and beaten in a silly amount of time.  Fact is, there are allot of people who don't play games that way, nor do they gauge average playtime from speed runs.

It's not misinformation, it's how long it takes to beat the game. TLOU was a 13 hour game so should we reduce what the average playthrough is because some people beat it in 8? Should we label a game as 5 hours simply by ignoring some people also beat it in 15 hours? Or should we call it a 10 hour game? Rushing through a game is NOT experiencing it, it's trying to BEAT it. Again, why the HELL is this game getting so mcuh scrutiny about how long it takes to beat? Do you think Forza 6 will be put down for being a 'corridor racer' or do you think Quantic break will be put down if it's as short or shorter than The Order? If someone rushes through it and beats it in 3 hours, should it be known as a 3 hour game from that point on?

It's nonsense.

Yah, apparently Demon Souls was the worst game ever, because you could beat it in 54 minutes.  Never saw this level of outrage, when someone did that speed run.

Sounds a lot like MGS4 to me, and it is a good game, now all of a sudden it is a bad thing in The Order 1886, and its focus is storytelling. Mind blown.

It seems to me people stop concidering games for their fun factor, and storytelling.

People really want to hate on this game it seems when you see so may "articles" and debates around its length.

Uncharted 2 is about 10h long. On my first playthrough, on Normal, I beat it in 9h. Did that make it bad ? Hell no.
Heck, The Last Of Us can be beaten in less than 10h as well.

Also, why taking some "speedruns" as a reference ?

Geez, it's astounding to see so many people looking for arguments to bash on The Order. It's not even funny anymore, it's just sad.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.
