Nah. Miscalculation on my part. It's actually closer to 86.5M. Still results in undertracking by about 1M or so.

Operating income in gaming is 53.7 Billion Yen, $457 Million.
Where did you see $230 Million? Did they release net profits separately?

Yes it was. And I'm not happy about it. Had to use the search button. :|
Congrats to Sony, but it looks like for the full FY, Sony will be still in loss.
So PS3 was shipped 1.1millions in the last quarter. Can we use this figure to estimate 360 shipment in the last quarter? I think the 360 shipment will be in the range of 0.8 - 1.2 millions. Don't think 360 could be out shipped PS3 with big margin. Generally, it was equal or less than PS3 except 2011 which I can recall. Then the shipment of Xbox One will be 5.4 - 5.8 millions. If this is the case, then not bad at all for Xbox One and it must be over 10millions by the end of 2014 in the shipment.
I think both PS3 and Xbox 360 will not hit 100millions mark. Wii will be the number#1 in gen#7 with no question.

That'll help, but probably not enough to surpass 15 million before its discontinued. The people who have yet to get one and are waiting for a price cut can get one now for incredibly cheap on many websites and retail stores so its not like there's a huge untapped market waiting to jump on this late in the game.
PS3 isn't selling well enough in the NA market as a whole nowadays. Its outsells 360 globally on a weekly basis all year round, but come the holiday season and the NA market alone pushes 360 ahead for a short time. PS3 would need to dominate every region to reach 100m.
On the bright side its total software sales are very close to surpassing Wii's total software sales, which would make it the only console that sells the most hardware but the least software in a generation

ps3 shipments are below 86.7m by math and probably below 85.5m (80m shipped as of 2nd novemer 2013 - 6.7m shipped from october 2013 to december 2014)
ps3 shipments cy 2013: <9.8m (one quater includes the last ps2 shipments)
ps3 shipments cy 2014: 3.4m
down 65%
quarterly
ps shipments cy13q4: 7.8m
ps shipments cy14q4: 7.5m
down 4% yoy
xb shipments cy13q4: 7.4m
xb shipments cy14q4: 6.6m
down 11% yoy
yearly (calendar not fiscal year)
ps shipments cy2013: 14.3m
ps shipments cy2014: 18.8m
up 31,5%
xb shipments cy 2013: 10.9m
xb shipments cy 2014: 12.9m
up 18,5%
xb 360 shipments cy2013: 7m
xb 360 shipments cy2014: 0.8 - 10.9m
(would be 2.5m if down 65% yoy like the ps3)
xb1 shipments cy 2014: 1.2 - 11.3m
btw: either the xb1 ltd sales are above 11.7m, or the xb360 is still sellling like gangbusters and overtook the ps3 shipments this year. beside being over 2.5m behind last year

At the definite end of the 7th gen, Wii will end up selling the most hardware while also selling the least software in a generation. Now that's something that you don't see everyday

ps3 definitely not
xb360 probably not
the ps4 is just to good in value and much closer in price to ps3 compared to xb360 value and price to xb1
the ps3 will be the fist playsation console with no legs. and even third world countries could not change that. the ps4 is already selling like gangbusters in asia and south amerika. so whats left? afrika? i doubt it. the guys who can afford a console, will buy a ps4. the guys who don't will buy mobile phones
