Dang price cuts all over the place oO This makes sales health harder to judge :P Also, anyone find it crazy that Farcry and other games from late 2014 have had to have list price reductions multiple times to keep momentum but Mario Kart 8 and Smash are both hanging around in the top 100 consistently at list prices over $50?
Also 3DS on the rise despite all the random SKUs rocketing to the top and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D held its spot at 50 despite all that as well.

That's because games like far Cry and other PS4/XB1 games have to compete with new releases month after month, while Mario kart and Smash don't have any competition on the Wii U. Not to mention games like Far cry have sold more at their launch than Mario Cart and Smash will in their life time.

I am well aware of that there are logical reasons for the differences, don't worry :P
It's also consumer expectations. Nintendo just doesn't lower prices quickly. Which has conditioned consumers to not expect early price cuts and thus not hold off for them. 3rd parties, it's the opposite. Price drops happen pretty fast so people who don't buy at launch are more willing to wait. I would say this is probably the major reason for the legs Nintendo games traditionally have. Prices fall very slowly, always have, so people pick it up as time goes rather than in big rushes at key moments.
