Its perfect for a free service. It works very good and I rarly get any lag......and that''s in Smash online 4 players where some are in Na/ eu.

i've no doubt it works well. my point is in relation to it having so few online games.

So? Obviosuly PS4/X1 have more games than Wii U in general anyway.

Though I'm not complaining because 4 of my 6 retail U games have online multiplayer.

this is getting off topic now but answer this. how many wii u games launched last year with online multiplayer? I don't know the answer but if the number is low you'll see why the overall package is a lot worse than PS3/360/PS4/X1. Technically much worse too. Like there is no online game where you have 64 people having a full on war. It would make it hard to charge for online with so few games to play but my thread is suggesting they match a service like PS Plus and make money off of it while providing nintendo fans with the phenomenal value it gives.

They said they are replacing Club Nintendo with a better rewards program. Last year they hinted at a service where the more games u buy, the less u pay. I think I like that idea more than a subscription service.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Well they are getting rid of Club Nintendo and digital deluxe promo.  I wouldn't be surprised if they added a subscription service.  But they'd need to add some features like proper accounts cloud saves ect. I think they could do something esspecially with such a vast library of VC games. they could give away wii and gamecube games too.

Before they start charging for online service they need to improve on the network, because if the network suck no amount of year old+ free content is going to get people to pay for the online service. Sony can get away with changing to a pay to play setup because it already had a solid network has been developing since they started to offer online services (SOE, and everquest) Microsoft invested millions to design its network. Nintendo needs to improve on that end. They may dabbled in online services before the other two but they are the furthest behind in the infrastructure, and if that isn't addressed none of this matters.

The new club will more than likely just be something to integrate it with the Nintendo Network so that each time they come out with a new console or service they don't have to shoehorn it in. It will probally be a hybrid of the ddp and the old club Nintendo with little to no physical rewards.

I personally doubt that Nintendo will charge for its service this gen or next, unless they M&A with a company that has robust network services. Nintendo has been know to make some questionable discisions but I doubt they would be foolish enough to charge for something they basically don't have.

So how will having a premium service that gives away games lead to publishers to make more online games? They would still need to add those games and since they're giving it away for free it wouldn't lead to more online games being made.

not all PS Plus games have online.

So how is that good? Aren't you just proving my point? A premium service isn't going to get more online multiplayer games made. It'll only hurt the game sales that Nintendo already has.

my point is you don't need a ps plus type service that only gives away games with online. get me now?

But how does this service encourage developers to make games with online? I really don't see how this service encourages 3rd party developers to make a game for them. Or how this service will encourage them to develop for Wii U in general.

that got lost in translation because i never said that. there are 2 different debates going on with me in here so i imagine you are mixing the two together.

I will probably quit console gaming altogether if Nintendo started charging for online play and they'd make more money selling games than giving them out for free.

ps plus has saved me hundreds of euro on games. how is that a bad thing? you also discover many great games you'd never otherwise have bought. it's a service loved by millions and nintendo doing it would be the best thing ever for those who don't buy all their games upon release.

Let's look at it this way, in the 360/PS3/Wii era, if you wanted to compare online services, PS3 was hands down the best because it didn't cost anything for online play and PS Plus was optional unlike Microsoft's fucking bullshit last gen, while the Wii had pretty basic stuff but the hardware was too weak to take real advantage of it's free service until the Wii U came out. I never subsribed to PS Plus because I didn't need it as I had plenty of other games or better versions on PC that I wasn't bound to a single eco system so it was meaningless to me. Then Sony decided that instead of being optional now, you have to pay to play online just like XBL with the PS4 and as soon as they announced it, I decided to not buy the fucking PS4 until the price drops/used to certain points and there are JRPGs and single player games I really want to play. Now, if Nintendo comes out with a sub service like the PS3 PS Plus but still with free online play, then what the fuck ever I don't care, and that's why I still have my PS3, because that'd be optional, but, if they go pay to play online, my ass is out, I survived fine without Nintendo shit for 10 years before I got my Wii, and I have no problem dropping console gaming forever cause at the end of the day, I'll still have my PC/3DS(or whatever is next)/and my smart phone, so pay to play online can fuck off, and sub to free shit is just fine by me, only I won't ever use it so it doesn't mean much to me.
