You are missing the most important question! Treehouse was amazing. Digital Event and Conference are six of one, half a dozen of the other.

What about the Smash Bros tournament? I want some kind of awesome event like that to take its place but I don't know what they would do. It would feel kind of redundant to do Smash again after last year, Apex, and Evo. And yet I don't think there's anything comparable in terms of hype.

We are of the same mind on this. Announce the Wii U reveal at the tournament and you have a megaton with a live event.

Digital Event, Tournament, Treehouse combo. That said, for the love of God, PLEASE STOP TALKING DURING THE GAME!!!! I wanted to hear the music and the voice actors of Xenoblade X, but unfortunately, the people never shut up! And the worst part about it, sometimes they would repeat info over and over, or there would be silence because they would run out of things to say (which is understandable, it's hard to try and be secretive and spoiler free and still talk for a half hour +).

Woah, a lot of people are saying that they want a traditional conference if there's new hardware. I definitely don't want that. The New 3DS reveal that they are perfectly capable of revealing new hardware excitingly in a digital format. Keep it digital, especially if there's new hardware. It's much, much easier to take in the information that way. I don't care about the audience's reaction. I care about my excitement. This isn't the Superbowl, it's a commercial. Sell me something in a clear, focused, concised, and entertaining way. A traditional conference does none of that.

Honestly I'm kind of feeling you on this. Think about it.

It opens with Link (because they ALWAYS do a LoZ tech demo when introducing new hardware) and it looks AMAZING, and I'm talking so good people think it's a LoZ CG movie being announced. He's going through the dungeon (which looks amazing of course) killing familiar enemies and freaking wowing the crap out of people. He gets to a treasure chest and opens it and he pulls out the new system (which floats and spins above his hand, jingle goes off like he just got a new item) and the screen goes to black. Then the name of the console fades in and it can go from there.

It would be an amazing reveal!

The last think Nintendo should ever do again is a Zelda Tech Demo. If they want to reveal new hardware (and I think that they'd only be revealing a handheld at this point), they should do it with Metroid. Stop getting people falsely excited for another realistic Zelda game that will never happen.

Plus, Metroid is a much better game to show off strong hardware.

Ah, but that may be the M Night Shama whatthef@#$ever twist. They announce that it IS the game that will be coming out. Besides, it still wouldn't be "realistic". The tech demo was still very CG animation oriented.

No one in real life looks anything close to this

digital event and treehouse please. It was the perfect thing last year after Sony and MS messed up their press conferences. They can edit it down so there are no big lulls in the event and all the game footage is perfect. No cameras panning out to the crowd and inferior game screens. Plus the treehouse shows all the game footage you could hope for.

If there is another megaton announcement like Captain Toad then I'll flip out.

As long as its a software only matter, I believe that a Digital event + Treehouse would be the best way to go.
Though if they'd announce a new console, they HAVE to do a confrence.

I didn't think it needed to say this, but when I, and more importantly Aonuma, say "realistic," what we really mean is "a Zelda game that looks like Twilight Princess and the tech demo that Aonuma clearly does not want to make as he has hinted at many times already." It's never happening again. It wasn't ever going to happen in the first place. TP originally was called WW2. Then Aonuma changed it because he was afraid everyone in NA hated that style. Now he knows that that's bullshit. As soon as WWHD was released to acclaim, that sealed Zelda under him. Literally every comment he's ever made regarding that styles says that he doesn't ever want to make one like that again.

You assume Aonuma will still be in charge. I would like to see the developers that make Splatoon (granted game quality pending) make the next Legend Of Zelda.

As I said, I love the art style they are going this gen with LoZ, but I think it needs to be a constant evolving thing. I don't want it like Twilight Princess, or Skyward Sword, or Windwaker, or even Zelda U, make it something different every time (at least for console installments), and I think for the most part they have done that.

*Sorry I've edited a few times but want to get my clear point across*

I think a true CG animation style has never been attempted or done yet.
