I've told people for months. This isn't news, but it's nice to see it get clarified for people that misunderstood the original announcement.

I'm going to wait until it's mentioned in the meeting thing before I believe this new 'apparently'.

That was a mistranslation, David Gibson's live tweets from Nintendo press events are horribly translated when done on the fly.
The proof is also in Nintendo's own fiscal numbers.
Q3 generated 31 billion in operating profit for them alone.
Yet they themselves are only forecasting 20 billion operating profit for the full fiscal year, indicating that in Q4 they expect to lose (a lot) of money again.
That indicates they have to start producing Wii U units again. Unless the New 3DS is unprofitable, which would be an insane move to release a redesign that is actually loses you money.
Well if the XB1's price is cut to 299 and the Wii U is still 299, well ummm... we can all guess whats going to happen.

Either way the inventory thing, that will be interesting, we shall see |
If they don´t improve production lines and stuff, then it will be at loss for eons to come...
Poor Nintendo, they can catch a break these days... =/
I am not really reading that WiiU is sold at a loss here... Just that it will not be as profitable this year because they have to make more units. Am I misunderstanding something ?
Like, last year manufacturing cost was zero and this year will be up because they have no more stock. That doesn't mean the new WiiUs will cost them more than 300$ to make.

I don't understand anything that you said lol.
Maybe Nintendo should drop the Wii U Gamepad from the Wii U and instead include the Pro Controller. Besides the lack of touch screen, the gamepad and pro controller pretty much work the same way.
Edit: Certain games won't work without the Gamepad, but there isn't a lot of games that need you to use it.

I remember writing about this in the UNITY thread, Nintendo's choice of hardware, and especially the CPU die, was a really poor one this time around and what was a sound plan with the Wii will be biting them in the proverbial behind for the entire 8th gen.
