Forums - Sales Discussion - Media Create/Famitsu Week ending Jan 25th

Legend of the Legacy still sounds as generic as a title can be, but i want it. Should i expect a localization or there is no hope at all?

Good for PS4, i expected a bigger drop. Wii U did ok. I too agree that Tales could do 100k in Wii U fw, but i don't know how much the port would cost and it is risky, so the company could go either way.

X1 is just sad. I mean, 259? Oo

X1 numbers....are they even paying the cost of distribution right now?

Zesty under Xillia2 score is disappointing... I don't know where the 400K come from, even shipped. Famitsu has it nearly sold out so it should have shipped 350K at best FW. Maybe Bamco sent another 50K yesterday...

Legend of Legacy as expected, maybe a little less, but still good for Furyu who deserves to get some money in some way

Good for EschaLogy+, this should ensure a Shallie definitive version, which is badly needed.

Kirby terribad as expected, all the more that PS4 crushed WiiU this week regardless. New3DS lost the momentum : the 3DS ecosystem should decline quickly due to the lack of games.

you need new definitions for crushed and terribad.

Tales did ok but still no excuses on why it isn't on wii u. would have added at least 150k to those numbers.

No chance. Tales of Graces didn't manage 150k its first week, and it was an exclusive.

I don't see the connection, especially since graces was buggy to the point it was recalled.

Well then.  Software wise, actually a pretty good week.

Tales didn't crater like I was expecting it too (actually barely down on Xillia 2); Legend of Legacy did extremely well; Atelier Escha Plus is actually up over Ayesha Plus' first week (reversing the scary trend of each entry selling less, which is nice).  And best news of all, Stranger in Sword City sold well!  It's Experience Inc's first self-published title on Vita, and it's sold as well as their published-led stuff (apart from Demon Gaze).

Sadly, Kirby is the one letting the side down now.

Hardware is another story.  Terrible all around.  And yikes at WiiU.  It's going to be a rough few months.

Kirby sales aren't fantastic, but it could have been much worse!

Bad idea. Tales Fans were/are/will be on the Playstation platforms.

Tales fans were/are/will be on Nintendo platforms too.

Because it took them 7 years to make a Tales for PS3 that wasn't a port. If there was ever a point that the Tales fanbase was going to migrate away from Playstation, it would have been then. But it didn't take with Tales of Graces, and it didn't take with Tales of Vesperia. The audience is on PS3, and porting Tales of Zestiria to another system was not going to result in a 50% increase in sales.

Famitsu is reporting 80-100% sellthrough, that means that going by the worst case escenario, 80% means 395k shipped, close to the 400k reported number. Btw the number comes from Tales of Twitter, and even Famitsu posted their twitt:

Anyway, I pretty sure that as always superior tracker Media Create is the right with 340k sold first week and they will share the sellthrough on Friday.

First, if you are talking about migration, it would be AWAY from nintendo, because the first 2d AND 3d tales of were on nintendo consoles.

But your thinking that fanbases are only in one place trully baffles me. Zestyria would sell less on wii u vs ps3 only because of installed bases. if it released on ps4 vs wii u, it would sell more on wii u. Tales fans are on Nintendo as much as they are on playstation.
