Cool story bro. Its 4 million + sold, not sure now much of that is digital sales. It was a massive success but it could have been better. We get it.

It was nowhere near a massive success. It completely failed to live up to the initial hype and despite a massive marketing push it failed to aid the Xbox One greatly against the PS4. That was the aim and it's why the X1 version released first.

4 million on 2 Xbox consoles isn't a massive success? Not even "near" one? Forget hype and marketing (which is pretty much the same thing), it sold amazing for what it was, and during a period where X1 was selling at a alltime low compared to PS4.

Dont even know why you brought this up to begin with. It released, it sold well, it isn;t on PS4, but T2 will be. Let it go.

In the context of Xbox 1 vs PS4 library it isn't an issue.

But if you feel that PS4 in itself doesn't complete you as a gamer that you require a gaming PC, then thats your choice ;)

so if the thread is not directly related to only PS4 vs XB1 it should be closed? Great logic right there! It is though an issue in relation to some gamers but not many. The only thing losing out here is the X1 console because it is not needed exclusively to play this game. BTW my gaming needs are more than satisfied. You should see my PS3 backlog.

It might as well should be, but freedom of speech and press and what not ;)

Um no, PS4 loses because its version of a X1/PC game, um.....doesn't exist. I don't know how to make this any simpler.

A X1/PC game is still on X1 and PS4 still doesn't get it, so from the way I see it, nothing changed. I'm sure your gaming needs are satisfied, but I also know a PS4 by itself can't do it. Go figure ;)

i consider destiny to be a failure in terms of the hype because that turned out to be half a game aswell. its sells were much better than titanfall but that's because it came out on ps4 so it prob did similar to titanfall. but if they made that game with twice the content it prob would be doing a lot better than it has. Activision shareholders made it clear they weren't happy with the sales.

I don't know what you mean by the "xbox vs ps4 situation" but the situation i'm familiar with was one where the game was hyped to be the next gears of war and the xbox one's saviour versus the ps4. i didn't create that situation so don't blame it on me. some xbox fans, the media and EA did.

It came out and the month of release it couldn't even get the xbox one to win npd. destiny on the other hand gave ps4 a massive september victory. One of these games moved consoles in big numbers but the other didn't. I do think Destiny is ultimitely a failure to but just to a lesser extent.

Well Destiny's failure in hype is one thing we agree on. But still like Sales said Titanfall sold at least 4 million between 3 platforms with the Xbox One version selling more or doubling the 360 version without digital sales. So no matter how you spin this Titanfall is a sucess. We are done with this discussion.

I'm not spinning it. I'm saying the game didn't meet the hype in quality or sales and the fact is failed to boost the X1 significantly enough to even beat the PS4 the month it released in the USA which is it's strongest market. It failed.

I didn't bring it up so i've nothing to let go. The reality is it was hyped as the game of the generation and ended up bring outsold by lots of games on the ps4 alone. It also only sold 4 million between 360, pc and x1 which is not actually good considering the install base, the mega hype and the huge discounts on the game within the first 8 months. No matter how you spin it, it failed.

The situation has always been no ps4 version. it never had anything to lose. many ps4 gamers like myself can now play this once exclusive without owning an xbox because we own a PC. The only thing that lost something here was xbox. As I keep saying it hasn't lost the game but it's lost the exclusivity. Basically the console has become less relevant to a certain demographic of gamers.

its a weird situation.

When Microsoft wasnt supporting Windows games for PC properly then fans cried out at Microsoft for it and said its a bad move and bashed them

Now Microsoft starts adding games to PC and its still perceived as bad to people

I view Microsoft in the same light I do Nintendo sometimes. They're in a no win situation no matter what they do

Not exactly. They could have developed exclusive games for PC and exclusive games for xbone. What they're doing is really hurting xbone no matter how people have been trying to spin it. It gives the impression to potential buyers that there's not much reason to own an xbone, as pretty much everything will eventually come to pc. Even if you have no interest in Dead Rising or Fable, it still affects the consumer's perception of the console.

IF they have a gaming pc or are interested in gaming on a pc.

When are people here going to stop thinking all console gamers also game on PC?  they dont... not even close, thats a trait pretty much distinct to gaming forum dwellers.  The vast majority dont, thats why they have consoles.  They prefer the console experience.

This to me sounds more like something done to promote the introduction of windows 10 , not some concerted effort to bring over all first party games .

I agree with Kowen there are lots of gamers who's preference is the console experience , that's exactly why Steam introduced big picture mode to try to replicate that experience .

I think it won't be alone. "Fable Legends is just the first of the major game franchises from Microsoft Studios coming to Windows 10 and we will have more to share in the coming months." xbox 1 at the moment has no reason to exist imho.

for people who dont want a gaming pc? as in most console owners at the moment. When a persons picking a console it doesnt matter if the games are on pc, if they dont have a pc!!

It did sell plenty of Xbox One's there was a boost in sales on the week it was released and don't forget it had the Titanfall bundle as well.

For the hype and advertising it did very poor. It was no gears of war but if it wasn't on the 360 it could have done a lot better.

Hype and advertisements doesn't determine if it's sucessfull or not and I am sure the game was a success when it released, now the game sold at least 2 million without digital sales.

It didn't meet EA and MS expectations.  They basically gave the game for free the month it released in that promotion because it came up short. It failed to even win that npd for the one.

that was anounced before it even released? how could it come up short XD/ but yeah 500$ console. titanfall which honestly lacked tons of content basically reducing its worth to a lot of people wouldnt have sweetened that deal that much.

they would have known pre orders and if they were high enough to give xbox the boost they wanted that month they wouldn't have done such a big deal month #1. Orgiven it the many cuts in price in the months after.

Yeah so basically it was a failure on the original promise/hyped vision. It didn't live up to it and so sales didn't reach the heights they wanted. Note I've not daid sales were bad, just it failed to reach the level of hype.

if you put it that way i guess it made sense. however if it had a single player and more content? xbox one would be aproaching 13 million right now. also it would have won march npd. also titanfall would be around 3,4 million retail sales.
