I think it's a tired trite cliche to have someone have strong romantic relationships with women then suddenly come out as gay in the final act. It's like fluidity in sexual orientation in adults is a legit and real thing, but only if it's hetero becoming gay, of course.

And so what if Harry makes homoerotic statements? That just suggests Harry was gay, and that's all fine. Nothing wrong with a gay friend engaging in gay banter with a heterosexual friend. God forbid that gay and straight men ever become friends. If you're friends with a gay man that must make you gay right? Damn, I have a few gay friends. Shit I better come out because I must be gay. Best start divorce proceeding with my wife then.

I have no issues at all with gay characters in games. I just find it really tiresome when people come out in the manner that is suggested in this OP. It really makes no sense and it would seem forced.

I just want to point out that in no way am I saying that Nathan Drake is or should be gay. I know he's not, and to be fair, I don't care if he's gay or straight or whatever. I wasn't using that example as "Hey, Drake's friend makes gay comments, so he's gay too!" I was only saying that Naughty Dog has a history of having homosexual themes in their games. That is it.

LOL This is ridiculous. It would not make sense at all and why wold Drake need to suddenly become gay?If he was gay from the start,I would not care as long as there are no gay romance scenes.I mean why would anyone but a gay person find that appealing? The game just would not appeal to me and I would not be able to take it serious and find it funny.

I think no, but it's probably safest to post this question on Tumblr. I bet they would know for sure.

I could see Sully coming out. Older guy, grew up in a less tolerant era so he repressed his sexual attraction to men and overcompensated by developing rather a reputation with the ladies, but never had a serious hetero relationships and is not a commitment kind of guy. Takes a young Nate under his wing, develops a very strong bond of affection for Nate, even though he's basically a criminal so wouldn't be expected to have any loyalty but to himself. Nothing at all sexual or creepy, just a strong intimate attachment, a way for him to have the intimate male relationship he subconsciously craves without having to acknowledge that what he wants is a homosexual relationship. Sully's back story (that we know of) lends itself to him actually being a repressed homosexual, much more so than any contrivance of Nate being gay.

He could in theory be bisexual, sure.

Although it would be a bit strange to reveal that in a future game, since so far he only seemed to be interested in women.

Nathan Drake absolutely is gay. There is no doubt about it.

You don't even have to read between the lines, Naughty Dog have made it so obvious in the 3 main Uncharted games. He is surrounded by young, beautiful, sexually aggressive women at all times, yet continues to turn them down in favour of his "mentor", Sully.

It's clear that Sully is Drake's long term partner.

I think at first Sully more than likely sexually abused Drake as a boy during their South American escapades, but eventually this turned into a pure and honest love affair after Drake learned of his sexuality from Sully.

They've been together ever since, and I for one am glad that we havea developer brave enough to have an openly gay couple as the main characters in their games.

Can't say it'd bother me either way. Would certainly be an interesting social experiment though.

Let's say, hypothetically, that Naughty Dog subtly revealed in Uncharted 4 that Nathan Drake, is in fact, gay (or bisexual, whatever). Could this be acceptable and believable within the gaming community? Does Nathan Drake have the potential to be a character that has an attraction for the same sex? Does it make sense?

This isn't the first time it's been brought up. In fact, Destructoid made an article around the time of Uncharted 3's release discussing that Drake would be a "fantastic homosexual," afterwards listing off reasons why it would make sense and could be conceivable. But the real question is, would gamers buy it? Should they buy it?

Naughty Dog is no stranger to homoerotic content in their games. For example, in Uncharted 2, Drake's relationship with Harry Flynn can be seen as suggestive. In one cutscene, Harry hands Drake a gun and tells him "These things have a lousy range, so we still have to get in close. You okay with that?" as he slides very close next to him, while Drake smirks and takes the gun. In another scene, Harry welcomes him by saying "Hello, sailor." In Uncharted 3, he holds hands with Sully at Elena's request. In The Last of Us, the character of Bill is revealed to be gay after Ellie finds gay pornography stashed in his house (there is also a note to be found that implies Bill had a relationship with his "partner" Frank). Ellie, in the Left Behind DLC, was also revealed to be gay, showing her relationship with Riley. So, if Drake being gay came to fruition, it would be consistent with Naughty Dog's portfolio.

I'm not asking if this should happen, or is it going to happen, I'm simply asking could it happen and would it happening be potentially believable to the gaming world? Would the gaming world cry out that Drake is a womanizer and straight and that is his character, or could they accept that his attitude and actions were simply a front and were his way of masking his insecurities of his own sexuality? After all, not every gay character has to be a stereotype.

Note: There are no wrong answers to this topic (although there can be hateful answers). There are valid points on both sides, and I would like for discussion to be respectful and polite.

Extra Note: I am not saying that Drake should be gay. I don't really care what he is. It was a simple question of if he was. Just wanted to clarify for people that don't read everything or read incorrectly.

It's just a theory.  A GAME THEORY!!
