Forums - Sony - PS3 will get a 2015 pricecut?

I mean, im the only one that think its odd that Sony has not cut the PS3 price to 199.99 at least. The console has potential yet, they could try sell it to emerging markets, as a family friendly device, as a multimedia device, etc. But they need to enter to the hundred spectre.

What its your thought about this, its Sony losing an oportunity or are they doing the right thing making profits of every unit of PS3?

Well, they certainly could since there are still games coming out for it such as Persona 5 and Yakuza

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I agree, but if they'll gonna do it this is the time, first half of 2015 at least.

I'm surprised at how long it's taken for Sony and MS to drop the prices on their last gen consoles. I mean these things should be like 150 or less by now.

PS3 is already $199........

Isn't that for a 12gb model though? Like I said PS3 and 360 should be like 150 by now. I mean I guess they're both trying to milk ever dollar of profit they can out of them.

Thats right, a 12GB PS3 its almost useless at least that the buyer have a SATA HDD. That SKU could be $149.99

Ya it's the 12gb model, doesn't change that the fact it's $199. But I do agree, both could use price cuts.

$149.99 for the lower storage skus.

$199.99 for the higher storage skus.

Add $50 if Kinect/Move are included.

Thats right but the thing its: will Sony gonna do it (or Microsoft)?

I think Sony's agenda is going to be pushing Playstation Now over trying to sell more PS3 units. There is a much larger market, and it is the future of the platform. I think Sony is going to put more focus on getting PS4 units in houses as it is X86 based. This will allow them to transition to new hardware while continuing to build on their OS and software.
