Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo expand on 3D / Gamepad or drop them?

I would love it if Nintendo ditched those two!

I really like the gamepad and hope they keep it. It is my preferred mode of gaming.

The 3d screen is probably cheap enough now and they just developed the eye tracking thing to make it better. I say 3d will stay. The gamepad will probably change. I'm hoping for a controller that divides itself into wiimote + nunchuck halfs, but with all the buttons a normal controller has.

3D is getting cheaper and easier to implement so they will probably keep that. The gamepad on the other hand? Not so much. I think they'll give us a Wiimote 2 + Classic Controller combo with the next console and maybe keep the gamepad as an accessory (like the Wii balance board or Zapper).

I think the gamepad for the next Nintendo home console will be the successor to 3DS: HDS or whatever. All games could be seen in 3D via Nintendo next handheld console.

That sounds pretty cool actually. The controller can morph & be customized? Nice thinking

It would pretty much be the shape of a normal controller, but are actually two conected halves. If a game/player needs/wants tradicional play, it can do it. if the motion sensors are needed, just separate them and play like wiimote and nunchuck. In 2011, I was hoping that wii u would do that.

I want the gamepad to be an optional accessory in their next console. Do not included it with the main console but offer it separately because they created things like the Miiverse which is a truly unique community when it comes to gaming communities and its full of wonderful art which imo, is a really great thing. So if they get rid of the gamepad, they get rid of the uniqueness of the community so I really want them to keep the gamepad but have it be sold separately so that it doesn't increase the cost of the console

And dont really care much about the 3d one way or the other. If they can get much better performance without the 3d, then they can just leave it off

I like that idea but I doubt it will happen. It would be traditional when you need it, motion when you want it

I think 3D screen is out next gen.

They could keep some of the same Wii U controller concepts as an optional thing next gen.

If you own say the Nintendo Fusion handheld and Fusion microconsole ... there's probably no reason why they couldn't allow for things like being able to use the handheld as a controller for the console if you want and display things like inventory and maps on the screen or use it as a touch interface to do things like create levels (ie: Mario Maker).

There's nothing stopping it from happening. Guess we'll just have to hope for it.
