Pretty sure? Do you have anything at all to back up your bashing of the game?

Well there is the whole... codemasters sucks thing.  It's a problem when your company peaked during the commodore 64 era.

"Vertical shooter" is supposed to mean like... Xevious or something. This game doesn't look like Xevious.

Vertical shooters is an old term for games that are like that. With the ship and you fly around kinda on rails blasting enemies until you reach the end of the screen.

Xevious, 1942 and stuff like that.

Vertical Shooter ?? I think they was searching for the term "On The Rails Shooter" .
Game looks nice though, gameplay vid's could give a clearer picture.
I thought Codemaster's make some of the most misunderstood games.
Clive Barker's Jericho was a nice game, it might not be legendary, but it was definately not the thrash that gaming sites that made out of it.
The Game looked just wonderful on my PC, a few folks though i was playing a DX10 game on Vista.
Gameplay wise it is kind of gimmicky but Mercury Steam have done to keep the game fast paced and the game never bored you.
I havent played Hour Of Victory, but considering Spark's past history i might give it a miss.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

Codemasters is the publisher of the game. The actual developer of the game is Blue Omega. Before bashing a game at least take the time to actually know who's developing it.

Oh and because they mention vertical shooter and it doesn't look like Xevious that means it's going to suck?  Real nice logic you have there.

I never said it's gonna suck. I'm just tired of all the shooters. Originality is all but dead in this industry when we limit our development to 3 genres.

Looks kind of generic so far, but it could be really cool. Its a very beautiful game.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. No the point is that it isn't a vertical shooter. So they've thrown vertical in there for no discernable reason.

Vertical Shooter is a 2-d scrolling game. The "huge open" parts confirm it isn't a vertical shooter. That would be like saying you have a third person shooter that features "great mandatory first person persepective."

Also... when was the last time codemasters published a good game? About the same as the last time they made a good game?

It's definitly a game you'd want to wait and see on when you combine the factors.  Does that mean it's going to suck?  No not definitly.

Is their reason to be concerned... well when it's put in the wrong genre right away... i'd say that's worrisome.

Seems that all someone has to do nowadays to hype an FPS is to show a bunch of drab, realistic-looking screenshots (none of which must show any vibrant color, and at least one of which must include a motor vehicle being driven in a ridiculous manner), state that it has "wide open areas" and online multiplayer, give it some nonsensical setting, and give it a bad-ass name that describes how HARDKKKORE it is..

In other words: Yawn. Wake me when the reviews come in.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I would rather play a game like this than a mini-game compilation anyday. Every system has its generic games, and at least games like this have more polish because the audience has higher expectations.

Yay, another FPS! And it has the radioactive bloom look of all the rest! Gotta love UE3.0. Long live originality!
