Zelda is a character. She's the princess that Link saves. :) |

Well, not exactly. The Zelda timeline is a little complex. Each game has a new incarnation of Zelda, Link and Ganon and they're usually set in different time periods/environments. In almost every game, Link saves Zelda but there's more at stake, depending on the game, and of course different plots surrounding the characters. So, in this sense, Wind Waker's plot is nothing like Twilight Princess', and Skyward Sword's is nothing like Majora's Mask's (I'm pretty sure you don't even save Zelda in this game) but they all share similar frameworks.
Well, if you want to play someday, I recoment A link to the past
I've only beaten A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time and Minish Cap, but I'm in a sort of Zelda vibe right now. I'm playing Majora's Mask, and planning to go to Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Four Swords Adventures right after. Plus Four Swords, if a friend of mine wants to play with me.

(i actually thought zelda was a character, i never knew i was playing the zelda main character in smash bros this whole time) |
Well at least you don't think Samus's name is Metroid...

You don't think Samus's name is Metroid right?
:P
Anyway, I've never completed a Zelda game as I used to be an impatient gamer who couldn't just sit down and focus on a game. But what I remember of Majora's Mask was fun and I am looking to grab OoT and MM on my 3DS soon :)

Well, yes and no... You see almost every Zelda game is set in a different time from the other (The Exceptions are Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, Legend of Zelda NES and Zelda II, and A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening... all direct sequels from one game to another). Also Gannon/Gannondorf isn't always the main bad guy who takes Zelda. And in some Zelda games she only appears once or not at all (Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening). And it's not just him taking her at the beginning, there are times he doesn't know where she is and times she even helps you in the final battle!
Link is the main character (who is a MALE!
). Zelda is the princess of Hyrule but is also very strong in her own right, and Gannondorf/Gannon is usually the main bad guy of the series (They are games were he doesn't appear either, but I don't want to spoil anything if you decide to get into Zelda).

what made ocarina of time so much better than the others?
