Well, yes and no... You see almost every Zelda game is set in a different time from the other (The Exceptions are Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, Legend of Zelda NES and Zelda II, and A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening... all direct sequels from one game to another). Also Gannon/Gannondorf isn't always the main bad guy who takes Zelda. And in some Zelda games she only appears once or not at all (Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening). And it's not just him taking her at the beginning, there are times he doesn't know where she is and times she even helps you in the final battle!
Link is the main character (who is a MALE!
). Zelda is the princess of Hyrule but is also very strong in her own right, and Gannondorf/Gannon is usually the main bad guy of the series (They are games were he doesn't appear either, but I don't want to spoil anything if you decide to get into Zelda).
