What's ironic is that is exactly what you're doing, even going as far as disregarding a confirmed source

yep.... a internet forum member that  no one knows for sure who he is, where he´s from and which source he has..... very confirmed source indeed.

Whatever anyone wants to believe. I´m  done here.

This isn't a good look. Bayonetta 2 was never going to sell well, trying to deny that is futile.

Why should I believe some neoF@G, help me out here

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.

One thing that we can easily learn by checking  websites/news/web forums  about videogame sales is that  there´s no real realible source for this kind of  information.

And people always seems to prefer to use numbers that either favor their favourite brand or disfavor the brand they hate. That´s  just silly.

He is always the source of NPD software numbers. So if you don't believe him now, you shouldn't believe ANY of his data, which means any Nintendo game's sales in NPD.

I'm not going to believe some forum member.

Hey guys! Bayonetta 2 sold 590,000! Why don't you believe me?

Hm, I think that Bayonetta 1 is overtracked here as well.

January 2010 NPD:
X360: 100k, VGC: 178k
PS3: 60k, VGC: 108k

And there was a post on GAF, but I don't know the source of the numbers:

X360 after 18 months: 200k, VGC: 390k
PS3 after 18 months: 150k, VGC: 310k

That region is almost certainly overtracked if that's the case. We know there are over 2 million copies out there and they haven't been reprinted in 4 years. VGC's overall numbers are correct, but it's certainly possible they're not in the correct region.

That single post is hardly enough to adjust the numbers. He's going off a thread that happened 5 years ago?

The numbers after 18 months seem to be NPD leaks, I'll do some research.

Europe is probably too low for all Bayonetta games. I think Bayonetta 2 sold more in Europe than in NA.

Indeed. VGC with USA/NA can be tricky. They used to combine Canada and Mexico with US leading to ~10% or so higher than numbers, but I'm not sure if they still do.

who is the guy from neogaf, not that i doubt him but i could also pick another member from neogaf that would predict different number

Can't wait to see Nintendo's numbers because on their site it is considered a best selling game, go look if you don't believe me. Plus while NPD is accurate with hardware I heard their software numbers are all over the place.

I believe VG chartz is closer due to the fact that my target just went through 7-8 In a week only one left yesterday. Wal-mart is sold out with toys r us as well. Like I said Nintendo has it as a best selling game so I know digitally it is doing better then DKCTF(once again go look).

The first game bombed on two system with much larger installed base than the WiiU right now. These numbers on WiiU are no surprise.

Im not sure id consider 2 million in sales as bombing.

@OP - 400k isnt that bad if you you look at things.  One, I believe this is just US, not canada.  So it will be slightly higher than what is currently shown.  But lets say Bayonetta 2 has sold 450-500k world wide.  Its still potentially in the top 20 games on WiiU sales wise and im sure it will continue to sell.  These arent lifetime sales.

However the problem is in three groups.  Nintendo's fanbase typically buys family friendly games.  Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Mario Kart, etc   I most certainly cant see parents buying Bayonetta for their kids so that removes them.

Another problem was that Bayonetta's fanbase (2 million people) were on other consoles.  While there certainly was overlapting consumers that has multiple consoles that is still a lot of potential fans lost.  However, Bayonetta 2 likely wouldnt have been made otherwise.  Nintendo helped them out.

The way i look at it is, this game is niche.  Its a great game that people are lucky that it was made in the first place.  And honestly, i believe it is probably profitable for Platinum Games as well.  Nintendo probably made it much less risky to make by funding it and i cant imagine it costing a fortune to make.

Just like From Software, i dont think Platinum Games has to sell millions to profit from a game.

I wouldn't too.  Sega on the other hand did.

We have to remember that the game was cancelled before Nintendo decided to moneyhat it.
