Just curious to see other people's opinions in the case of home consoles

I quite enjoyed last gen, which I believe was the longest so far (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I think perhaps it went on for a year too long, but otherwsie I enjoyed the fact that it was long enough for some great franchises to be established and for devs to push the consoles to their limits.

So how long do you want gen 8 to last?  Do you prefer long or short gens? Will Nintendo or MS shorten this gen due to their situations?

6 years for.ps4 and x1 and maybe 5 for wii u.

Yeah I think 6 or 7 years might be the sweet spot

I want new consoles by 2019, would be awful playing 8k on PC, and then changing back to 1080p on consoles. 

But, my guess is Sony and MS(specially Sony) may want to keep it going until 2020, maybe longer.I suppose it will come down to how much of an impact Nintendo's next console has on the industry.

I would prefer this gen to last as long as possible. 10 years is fine, but improbable. But I am very positive that I will not be buying a Gen 9 console as soon as it's launched. I'll probably stick with my PS4 until 2023, and if the support dies down I'll just catch up on all the games I missed during the years.

2 years. 2016 seems like a good time to deliver proper consoles for 1080p60.

6 years so in holiday 2019 would be fine by me. Feel like PS3 lasted a bit to long (7 years) so one year less would be fine by me.

5-6 years would be ideal.

Longer than 6 would suck.

Already over it. If a new TV box comes out with better TV viewing capabilities, I'm on it.

I would like new consoles in Fall 2019. That gives this gen a good amount of time to push everything out and not make me rush to buy something new as soon as I got the last one. WiiU should get a successor before then like 2018 I'm thinking for obvious reasons but PS4 should wait until 2019. X1 will probably cut this gen short as they don't like losing so 2019 at the latest for them but if they come out earlier I suppose Sony will have to respond. They don't want to lose a huge install base like PS2-PS3 went by being late. Though if they released at an appropriate price this time that would help a lot of people wait.
