as much as i dislike DSP as both a lets player and person as much as the next person does he does make a good point there a certain reviewers shouldn't review a certain game if isn't their kind of game but i felt IGN's review of Alien Isolation was by far a better example of that hell i would even throw in Polygon's review of Bayonetta 2 as a better example

While I agree, you gotta know somehow if a game good or not if you are not sure of buying it.

PC Zone and PC Review were excellent PC gaming mags. Nowadays it's rare to find ones that are independent enough from games publishers, as people are willing to spend less on them, so they depend more on advertising. Even worse when reviewers want to review early copies receiving them for free before official release, in that case they totally depend on devs and publishers and the conflict of interest is blatant. Probably this potential problem existed also in the past, but publishers were less powerful than now and the best and most renowned and independet mags were a lot more important. Prostitute gaming journalists existed back then too anyway.

I agree with what he says about people taking metacritic as facts, but I don't agree with the murdered argument. Yes it might have deserved a higher score for some people, but I've had that too with other games in other years. That's why you should just look at metacritic and then forget it.
