Forums - Nintendo - Just ordered my Abassador New 3DS...

What, whoah! I didn't know there was an ambassador edition coming out so soon. Does it have any benefits over a 'regular' New 3DS?

Not many, actually. There's an exclusive cover and back plate (Nintendo logo on the back and the japanese logo on top) but that's just a removable plate. They also included a set of Smash Bros. plates and a white charging dock. And you get it before everyone else, of course! ;)

I guess if you want to sell this one for a profit in the future you have to take good care of the "ambassador" plates and the packaging. It's just a regular white N3DS at heart.

I got an email too and have the chance to buy the amabassador edition. But I'm on the fence. I really want the New 3DS XL, so it seems unwise to get the Ambassador edition. What do you guys think? I have until monday to decide.

Wait for the one you want! Especially as there is a premium attached to this version

I don't have the option of even buying the Ambassador version. I'll finally be getting back into Nintendo for the first time since my GBA whenever this comes down in price

I got the chance and ordered one last night. I'm becoming a sucker for collecting bits of gaming merchandise and hardware, and I've had a black 3DS since launch, so I figured I may as well. I really like the SNES colour scheme on the buttons, the Nintendo face-plates and with the screen being bigger than the normal 3DS unit, I'm looking forward to getting it.

It's also motivation to do the hero quest on Link Between Worlds, and go back through Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus: Uprising with the improved 3D feature.

Thanks for the info. I can't believe I missed out on this news!

One day... A game is going to come out in the US that you will want but it will take months to come out in the EU... And when that day comes, I am going to enjoy boasting every minute of it! But till then... Curse You Europeans!

We had to wait 9 months for Trauma Center Second Opinion. It's what swayed my decision to have my Wii chipped years ago. We often have to wait longer for games due to the rest of Europe being inconsiderate in not having English as their first language lol. Games need to be localised in French, German, Spanish and Italian at minimum to pass Nintendo Lot Checks (also known in the trade as Standards Testing) and get a licence. It's a major pain in the arse because the games need testing in each of those languages and with online games having a mixture of all languages too. When I was working on the first  Kane and Lynch game years ago the online crashed whenever a Spanish language game joined an online game at first lol

Trust me you could probably sell that ambassador New 3DS for the price of a New 3DS XL and then some. So if your willing to put in a little effort it will be more than worth it I would think.

Well, it's arrived.

These next couple of hours at work are going to be tough.

I'll update with first impressions when I get home.
