This has nothing to do with why it's popular. If anything, it limits the audience of the game. Series is loved because it's very polished, has a great cast and story, and has a lot of content. That + decently made adaptations help broaden the net.


While the game is great for the reasons you listed I still believe the waify mechanic made it much more popular. Much like Fire Emblem Awakening.

Dont get me wrong I have been a fan of Fire Emblem since I first heard about it in Smash Bros Melee but it is rather miraculous that the 3DS version sold a staggering amount more than any predecessor.

Don't worry, your not alone in that boat ... In the past they were of the utmost highest quality but today you'd only see me loathing them and that includes some Nintendo games too ...

Every region has weird taste when you look at just the top-selling games. America has a hard-on for COD, Europe has a fetish for FIFA and Japan loves them some Pokemon & fantasy games. :P

Of course. He lists Youkai, MonHun and Pokemon and then for some reason chooses to type Persona instead of Dragon Quest -____-
Persona, a series yet to break 1m WW let alone in Japan alone. Shows a nice lack of research on the topic I guess.

Definitely should've listed Dragon Quest instead, heck even Kingdom Hearts is the bigger contender ...

Awakening sold more because it was the first Fire Emblem to have a developed story and cast of characters. It has more mainstream RPG qualities and wasn't as strict of a SRPG. That + it's higher than normal production values are what brought it out to the forefront.
