Forums - Gaming - What if the Kinect launched with Xbox One?

Kinda off topic. Among several revisions there was a Xbox One design that had kinect integrated with the console. If the final product was like that then it would have been disaster.

Yep, Microsoft got desperate lied to the consumer base and then force bundled it because they were afraid they wouldn't make a profit on the tech. If they wouldn't force things on people it probably would be recieved. Sony profits on every single one of their eyetoys. They don't need to be a runaway success, because they were never meant to be, but to force it on people is just wrong.

Yes.

So you heard this where? Just anecdotal evidence?

I dont talk without evidence.

However in an interview with Develop, the Xbox’s designer, Carl Ledbetter, revealed that perhaps the issue of the Kinect might not have been such a big deal because at one point in time, Microsoft had actually considered integrating the Kinect into the console itself. According to Ledbetter, the reason Microsoft decided against that was simply because of aesthetic reasons.

just asking, just asking. thank god they didn't do that, what a disaster that would have been. Not only that but how is everyone supposed to get a good angle or use it correctly.

I am not surprised. I don't get why though. If MS did it with a 360 version it'd make sense. The original Kinect was a smash hit (for 2 years at least). The lack of support for the Kinect One despite MS' obsession with it is mind boggling though!

Now after presenting "anecdotal evidence" your tone suddenly changed. Lol. That always makes me laugh.

Not sure what you posted but someone else posted a link before you.

Also I was just really asking who said it, You assumed my tone, as I'm not talking to you in person. The question was simple where did you hear it, friend or link type of deal. I didn't feel to search myself.

There shouldn't of been any kinect. MS relied on gimmicks like nintendo did and paid a price for it. Just make really good exclusives, don't screw over gamers and don't nickle & dime someone every chance you get.

It would have been even worse for me if they built it in. Would have been 1 mistake too far

If Kinect launched with Xbox One instead of the Xbox 360, then the Playstation Move may have been more successful. Kinect on Xbox One would have sold more consoles, but not that much more since the motion control hype would have died down thanks to the casuals getting burnt out on the concept of gimmicky controls in gaming, the reason the Wii U failed imo.

X1 would have sold much more but the 360 would have died faster. The kinect was a fad that really boosted the 360's sales and lifespan, and I think it would have helped the X1 sell significantly more if it only launched on the X1.
