It has to do with other peoples connections. If they have bad connection then your matches lag.

It's everything to do with someone in the match having questionable internet. Mario Kart 8 (or any online game) is no better. How often can you actually hit someone on purpose with a green shell online? NEVER!! People are always hopping and skipping around like Vanellope von Schweetz. It's just a billion times more noticeable in a game that requires precise reflexes like Smash Bros.

It's others' connection then? Or maybe try and avoid people from far away.

Mario Kart 8 has these problems as well. Drop into a room of people from far away (e.g. Europe vs. Brazil) and there will be lag. Players spawning somewhere, items not hitting, etc. Smash is a way faster game and therefore suffers from small delays unlike Mario Kart which just readjusts the players' positions as may fit.

Ha! That's funny. Mario Kart 8 online is literally unplayable for me (more than lag too), but SSBU is near perfect.

Note: this is coming from a South American country. And an incredibly sucky one at online connections.

Very rarely have online lag for me here in Brooklyn... and even when there is some it usually works itself out pretty quickly

Haha! Yeah, all online gaming has issues. Although, I think it's mainly due to people's shitty Internet connections. Honestly, I'm a little surprised we having figured out a way to improve Internet speeds and make them steadier. So many people have huge issues with their provider.



I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

It really does blow some major wiener. It's hard to go from offline to online solely because the input lag is so great online.

It's good, but not fantastic. Especially not if it lags for 2-player matches.
