Indeed. If nothing else, it's a deflection. Overtracked or not, the PS4 has smashed most expectations thus far and it will probably continue to do so throughout its life.

Apparently it did smash a lot of people's expectations in the wrong way or this thread wouldn't be so long^^

I think the conversation about the overtrack is fine. That's better than the general saltiness this numbers have brought upon on other sites. I mean salt is a commodity right now on N4G. Lol! XD

Haters will hate. A few months ago (early August) there was a thread aking if PS4 could sell 17m by years end. most thought it was not possible(poster who favor a different console were saying 15 mil), few said 17 mil but no more. now certain people are trying to make 18.5 million a disappointment. ROFL.



End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

If you have a team in the World Cup and doesn't expect it to get past the quarter final and suddenly said team wins every game by a landslide and then fumbles in the final narrowly missing the title, you would be disappointed too.

What I am saying is that PS4 consistently outperformed most expectations, causing predicters to adjust their predictions up yet and yet again. You can't really blame them to overshoot in the end at some point.

If I recall right, MS sold 3 million during the holiday period last year so they will be up as well. Good times :).

20 would be an amazing accomplish but 18.5 is a great figure for the end of the year. Much higher than my 16-17 prediction. I guess it'll reach 20 by the end of January.

I think this PS4 will do like PS2.     Also, we know that VGC figures are just an estimate, so it's normal they undertrack or overtrack time by time.

XBone also is most probably overtracked by VGC, but MS did not announce their official SOLD figures...

MS just said a couple of months ago :"We have ALMOST SHIPPED 10M XBone''.
