Its an estimate. Could be too high or too low. But it is sold through. Shipped will likely be 19m or so. |
Ohh that's what I thought. It's an estimate. Thanks.
For the others, I'm not trying to minimize the feat though.

Amazing numbers and definitely above any first year of any Sony console ever in the past. PS4 is here to stay!
kowenicki said: So, House was banging on about how supply would be tight this holiday. Does this mean that they didnt sell as well as they expected this holiday and thus supply was actually fine or it is tight supply and shipments are similar to sold through? Either way, I cant see how the shipments can be more than 20m for the next report and nowhere near the 24.5m the Wii had by March. |
The shipments are definitely not more than 20m. They said they were supply constrained in Europe, so it is reasonable to assume that they don't have over 1.5m consoles sitting on shelves after the holiday rush.
Still, about 6 - 6.5m shipped in this past quarter is a very good number, and basically we get an average of 1.4m shipped monthly since launch, which I consider a success.

Well, if you put it this way all consoles are set to leave somewhen. I was just surprised you said PS4 is here to stay while I don't even expect PS360 to leave anytime soon. The PS4 is not alone to stay or do you believe otherwise?

Because Kaz Said it is sold through.
And the press release says it's estimated (shipping would be a know number), no need for estimative.

Of course PS4 is not alone ad won't be isolated during its lifetime! You weren't supposed to take that sentence so literal xD
18.5m is still pretty damn good by any standard, but sadly it means it's overtracked here. All in all I don't think anyone should be disappointed, and especially not Sony themselves, by this console's first full year !
