Forums - Microsoft - a nintendo fanboy's impression of RYSE: son of rome

what score would you give to RYSE?

4/10 36 39.13%

5/10 9 9.78%

6/10 16 17.39%

7/10 17 18.48%

8/10 7 7.61%

9/10 7 7.61%

Total:92

the game looks so nice and isnt worse than the most other AAA games. a friend has a nice 4k setup and the game looks just eyemelting on it and runs fine. 30 fps is enough for this game, crytek was right.

hmm, maybe I'll give it a chance one day. I used to think exactly the way you did about this game.

I don't care about score. As long as you're enjoying the game, that's what matters. As BSHADOWS GAMING would say: #PlayGamesNotCompanies.

I agree, a solid 7 for me. The graphics are mindblowing, but that has no value unless the gameplay is good. I like how you can choose what to get from your combos during fights and I actually like the story.

Glad you're enjoying it. I don't know why it received such a negative reception it is pretty fun

It got bad reception due to being short and being linear. The latter of which has become a major issues according to the gaming media.

Personally I like linear titles and Ryse would be a game I would likely enjoy.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Is the combat similar to Bayonetta with slow motion cinematic fight sequences?

yeah. you press a button when the enemy is low on health to start the cinematic sequence, and you have to do the command prompts. if you complete this, then you get extra health, extra xp, attack boost, and things like that. whatever you choose.

you really do have to be weary of other enemies surrounding you. so you are constantly changing targets. if you play on hard, your health is vital, so it really makes you not want to get hit.

I used to hate this concept until I played Bayonetta 1 and 2, now I love it if it is done correctly.

Absoultely average to below average gameplay with a reasonable story that is luckily short enough to not overstay it's welcome. It's worth playing for the experience but it's nothing to write home about IMO

This guy gets it ...

Nothing's really wrong with combat other than the fact that it lacks in depth compared to the likes of Batman Arkham, Assassin's Creed, and Shadow of Mordor ...

The graphics are amazing, the plot is dumb, there's practically no side content, and the rest is meh or subpar ...

Overall a 6/10 from me ... Not a bad game but an average one at that ...
