Forums - Gaming - gamrConnect Presents: The 500 Greatest Games

It still baffles me how you do this, Smeags. Amazing work!
It's a shame that 17 games made it over Metroid Prime. Oh well, a classic can't win against the likes of TLOU even if it was a better game, because more people played it and more Sony fans voted for it >_

Predictable #1, but excellent work none the less!

So many gems on this list. I cant even quote em all.

So are you trying to say just because its predictable it doesn't deserve it? If so please stop not everything has to be unique and different.

Fantastic job, Smeags!

The list contains far too few PC games but after more than 7 years as a member on a site which is all about console/handheld sales I shouldn't be surprised anymore. No LucasArts game in the top 20 sub-charts for the 1990s makes me a bit sad though, but I didn't vote, so I can't blame anyone else but myself.

If I ever have the feeling again that this site is overcrowded by fans of Sony systems I can always revisit this thread. The members voted and the Nintendomination is simply stunning.

If it makes you feel better, The Curse of Monkey Island is my 2nd game. :P

I'm sad my number 2 didn't make it to the top 500. 4 civilizations made the list as well as master of magic but no alpha centauri.

As for the Nintendomination. At least a few of us Paddington gamers were gaming for a generation or three before Sony made a console.

It's exactly the opposite! A game can't compete with classics, even if it was a better game, because more people have nostalgia with it and more Ninty fans voted.
Seems like the tops are always Ninty old games! Rarely I new game goes up, and I guess TLOU will be there with some more years. It needs dat "classic" feeling to top it apparently.

Compare how many people played Metroid Prime and TLOU.

Smeags, am I the only one who voted for Chicken Invaders 5? Lol.

It's a strange trend where the Top 50 event seems to appeal more to Nintendo gamers than Sony/MS/PC gamers. Each year as there's more and more users submitting their lists, I think to myself that the Nintendomination will be reduced but it seems the number of participants didn't change things after all.

Your good taste, the fact that at least The Secret of Monkey Island made it to the top 500 and the announcement that Grim Fandango Remastered can now be pre-ordered, ease my pain.

Doesn't necessarily mean to appeal to "Nintendo gamers", but rather, people who grew up with Nintendo. That's something that is stuck with us forever, as an integral part of our childhood; and such, those kind of games will never be removed from there because we look back to them with both love and nostalgia. It doesn't help that those games were (are?) also amazing.
