That surprises me. Wii's massive fall off in sales suggested to me that people were soft on Wii and Wii U would need to bring something other than a tablet to grab attention. Also i am convinced that a huge proportion of kinect 360 sales came from early Wii owners, which means these people became lost to Wii U. And being casuals they are mostly lost to the 8th gen.

XBO. But then "it" happened, and Microsoft went and done fucked it up.
I thought all three would be close to each other in sales, but after the lackluster sales of the Wii U and the X1 DRM chaos, I realized PS4 would win.
I expected the Wii U to sell poorly because all of the casuals who bought the Wii and got burned on it wouldn't be interested in the next iteration with yet again last gen graphics and gimmick controller, especially with how overpriced it was at launch. At the time you could have bought a Wii U for $300 at the lowest with 8GB storage and no game, or you could have bought a PS3 bundle with 500gb of storage for $250, or a PS3 or Xbox 360 for $179 - $199 with 4-12GB of storage and seven years of a back catalog of games.
With the leaked specs of the PS4 and Xbox One, and the announcement of how easy the PS4 was to develop for during February 22nd, I was pretty sure right then the PS4 won. but I thought it would have been reasonably close. It wasn't until the price announcement $499 and $399 that it was clear it was going to be a run away win with the PS4.

I thought Wii U would have a chance if they could dupe casuals into spending money again. Other then that was pretty clear cut PS4 would beat XB1. As XB brand is not so popular outside of US and UK.

Actually it wasn't. It was all an artifact of 360's 1 year head start. 360's lead ballooned from end of 2008 to Aug 2009 because of its price cut, but when 299 ps3 slim came along it was all PS3. Kinect gave 360 a major shot in the arm, but it wasn't quite enough for the global market. It certainly did a number on the USA market though.

After the reveal of the XBO I think we all knew it was PS4's to lose.
