Forums - Gaming - Just Dance should just die already(new thread title)

I really liked the idea of the application, now you can play with everybody, everywhere and just with a smartphone, and if I'm correct, you can purchase any song you want.

So, yes, I'd say the business in consoles should finish.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

the dev costs won't be much, but the licenses for all the music tracks might very well be high.
We've already seen the effects. There's far less advertisement for the past games.

I imagine those games are super cheap to develop. What costs them money is the licensed music (which is why they usually mainly use old songs and a few new ones) and the PR.

If the franchise doesn't sell millions anymore (tracking might be off) they can just scale back on PR and still sell a good 500k or so copies across all versions and probably make a decent amount of money with that.

It was wise for them to make a mobile version considering the series decline of consoles.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I hate this games but they work and they are very fun for some people, i think is still having very good sales, specially on Nintendo consoles so they can still make another one next year, why not.

The Guitar Hero/Rock Band effect is kicking in as expected. Ubisoft has gone through the most popular songs already and the music industry obviously can't produce as many great hits every year individually as it did over several decades combined. The well has run dry.

How can you say that without Just Dance Taylor Swift edition being announced yet?

looking at those sales they should consider just killing the franchise..

1.5m copies sold on a game that probably costs pittence to make? No way.

according to the OP 1.1M and over half on wii.   the franchise is dead or at least most of the way there.

game development may cost a pittence but i assure you that the music industry's licensing fees are not.
