Forums - Nintendo - What is wrong with Nintendo's online?

The only thing I wouldn't mind added to Nintendo's online is party chat. I don't give two shits about achievements since after a certain point they're more of a testament to buying habits than actual skill.

More or less this. Coordinating with friends online is still a bitch and a half, even though friend codes are gone. Make that not the case, and i'd be quite content (though i wouldn't pay for that. PSN+ style free game access is the only justifiable reason to charge for online, imo. Live Gold was a long-time ripoff).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

As a 3ds/vita owner, I have to say that the 3ds store seems archaic. It's hard to find titles you want, the prices are absolutely terrible and when there is some kind of sale, it's still not good enough (at least for me).

I've only used the 3ds store like 5 times because using it feels like a chore. I check the psvita store at least 3 times a week. Also for some reason, my 3ds does not like connecting to the internet (my internet is shit, but still). Still don't understand why.

I get frequent lag on Super Smash even with a Lan adaptor, and I've experienced many issues elsewhere in Mario Kart and downloading games.

I'm glad it's free, but we have to acknowledge it's still at another cost beyond money.

Many things.. but these are a few I wish they could implement to help feel connected to the world rather than feeling like I'm alone..

- Achievement/Trophy system, to compare with other players and your friends. Not necessary or useless. I have psn trophies and steam achievements. Both are just ignored after the initial 5 minutes of curiousity they aroused.
- Instant Messaging/Voice messaging, so you can message friends and check back quickly without interrupting the game. Could make some some sort of improvements here. You can leave messages to your friends and such. Heck hand written notes work well. Some sort of notifications would be okay to implement i guess. I usually just text/skype the friends i know or others i regularly play with.
- Party Chat w/ friends, to voice chat with friends while playing games even if you're not playing the same game. One of the more nonsensical things that happened last year. Seems amazing but ended up being detrimental to the spirit of online gaming communities. In the early days of Xbox Live, rooms were full with people communicating via their headsets (for good for bad). After this Cross game chat thing became big, the game lobbies just became more bland as people had important things to discuss while playing Call of Duty with a friend who is dabbling in some RPG. Just my view here but this is just stupid. What is off such utter importance that it can't wait till the end of gaming session to talk though. If is an emergency use a phone.

Just some green thoughts.

OT: System is okay. I use it in the same way i did use psn on ps3 during last gen. To play online.

Edit: I should mention though that nothing is far from perfect and there could always be improvements. Just pointed the above because it is not always the best policy to copy from and implements the features the competition has.

My biggest complaint is no chat in games or in a party.
but skype is easy to get on phone and laptop/pc so... not a big deal
id rather have free enet service than pay for shit I do not want like Trophies.

I actually thought this was a joke thread xD

Anyways D21lewis pretty much sums up my complaints. I'd like to add that some (most?) games don't even support in game lobby voice chat, which is strange.

I realize it's free and all but PS3 for an example had a much better free online experience IMO

Since Nintendo online is free, I am not complaining. And personally, I am not a fan of trophies and achievements. So, it is definitely not worth another $40 a month for me. HOWEVER, I do think they should implement a messaging system. But then again, they do have Miiverse. So in a way, they have one, but it just is not convenient enough.

[Switch Friend code: 3909-3991-4970]

[Xbox Live: JissuWolfe]

[PSN: Jissu]

It works, that's good enough for me.
Though I'd love dedicated servers .-.

Its kinda slow and lacks lots of features but at least its free and not a waste of money like Xbox Live is.

I personally don't have a problem with it, but only because I don't care about features like voice chat!
